A 222 Remington

Not shot it yet .... I just got a scope for it (12x fixed Leupold) and Bonanza BR dies so there was a hold up. Brass just arrived as well.

I have a few suitable bullets here but not a lot. Hard to source more right now. Have a couple #s of IMR4198 to start with the classic powder. H355 after that.

Nice. I’m sure that rifle won’t disappoint. Finding light 22 cal bullets isn’t as easy as it once was. I haven’t seen a nosler 50gr BT for a long time. Hornady you can usually still get at Cabelas.

I’ll have to look for those cheap 55 gr Hornady bullets Hitzy. Thanks for the tip

These little cartridges are a lot of fun.

I just dropped a grand on BT's in 6mm, 6.5mm, 7mm, and .30 cal... they were there, at a stupid good price, so I snapped them up. :)

Another ;) 'fun one' for me is an old custom Winchester High Wall I acquired quite a while ago, chambered in 219 Donaldson Wasp. Did some basic load testing and two of the bullets involved were the Hornady 50gr V-MAX and 55gr V-MAX. Pushed with a top end load of IMR 4064, the 50gr 5 shot groups @ 100 yds were one ragged hole:d:d.

Very nice! I didn't even know .222 was a real caliber until I mistakenly bought some Hornady Superformance Varmint rounds at my LGS last month, thinking they were .223. They were not. I was considering buying a .222 rifle to shoot the ammo, but I couldn't find any .222 rifles, even at the store that sold me the .222 rounds. I just sold the .222 boxes of ammo last week on the EE.

I have heard the .222 are amazing on the accuracy scale so thanks for confirming that. Sweet looking gun and it looks like amazing work was done to get it to the finished product.

Anschutz still make them, and maybe also CZ... inherently accurate little cartridge.

I think I was behind you by a few days. I ended up with the 270 nosler 140 BT’s. But there were no 22 cal stuff left there.

Found some 55gr Hornady varmint bullets yesterday too $25/100. Inflation!

Yup... got lucky @ $25/box... can shoot for awhile with my total stockpile... I hate scrimping at the range.

Damn I just checked Higginson and Xreload and both out of stock as well on the bulk SP's.

I have a Remington "Classic" chambered in 222 Remington. Very accurate rifle, and just loves
the 50 V-Max or the 50 Ballistic Tip, chased by 23.5 grains of [now obsolete] Reloder 12
The 52 grain Sierra HPBT prefers IMR 4198 or Reloder 7 All these will shoot 5 into ½ moa
if I do my part. Love the 222!! Dave.

I dropped the ball on a minty Remington 700 ADL in 222 Rem last year. Still bothers me as the wood and the condition was outstanding.
I recently came across a well hunted Sako l461 varmint 222 Rem that I’m refinishing. The metal is out being reblued. The stock stripped easy and I refinished it in oil.

I've had great success with RamShot X-Terminator in the 222
