timing was good an a lady added the skin sample to her testing at the NSW university.. anyway just last month i got a letter back...
it tested 99% Dingo she rekons....

it looks it too.... so its very interesting.
roumer has it the Govt stopped DNA testing ,or releasing the results because ALOT more pure Dingos alive than expected. Especially in the Alpine High Country......

hhmm..... Sorry about that lil btch, but i know she had 4 pups. 2 black and 2 gold......... it lives on.

Thats cool, Are dingos protected? Does it matter what it really is or you just did the testing out of curiosity?

Dogs are 99% wolf. Coyotes and wolves bred here making mutts and they want to protect them as a "new species" shutting down wolf and coyote hunting.

Yup, some people are so ridiculously stupid that they think everything in World is some sort of Utopia fantasy !

Cool post! Nice dogs those dingos, size wise and coat wise! What is the origine of the dingo?

I don't know the origins of dingo - thought they were native wild animals to Australia, but someone else will say. We did have a (mostly) Red Heeler dog - shoulder markings apparently not ideal for that "breed", but was a great dog - read on Wikipedia that Heelers were cross bred from dingos and Scottish herding dogs - by an Australian rancher in last half of 1800's (?) Could run with / herd cattle all day in the heat - as good as or better than the men and herding dogs that he had been hiring to move his cows to market.

so for the record, Dingos are protected for the most part- Except on Private Land - protection of livelihood.

its a bugger i shot it, in hind sight, but it lives above soem large flocks of Sheep .

its very rare for them to return such a positive DNA, its not something i do often but i copped alot of flack over shooting this one, (although the right thing to do) IF it was up in the Big mountains, in National Park, i do tend not to shoot them unless really close or 'anoying ' me...

The pure dingo is in major Decline... thanks to the 1080 poisons and the governments baiting and trapping programs..... They stopped TESTING as it would eventually be found that more Dingos are out there and it would Halter the funding for the Trapping programs....................

Yep protected and i had it test in curiosity an while the oppertunity arose, it gained a bit of social media attention, hence the lady from Uni coming to approach me for a skin sample.!

il try post up a bit of the report..

If you had shot my Heeler dog (that looks like that one) here in Western Canada, you could probably expect some "incoming" headed your way - but you are not here and my dog is not there - a whole different world. Good on you! Enough coyotes, etc. meet their demise out here every year - "natural" or not. I do not know or care about what Eastern Canada has on the go about "coy dogs" or "coy wolves" - nothing to do with me, I don't think - coyote or wolf is going to get shot here, basically on sight. Many. many rural folks here are about the same mindset - both for shooting their dog, or for shooting coyotes/wolves on sight.

Yup my red heelers look just like that ol dingo. I get the you shoot at my dog you get incoming sentiment. We live rural alberta with livestock all around. If my "domesticated" dingos lol get after making trouble for the ranchers I would expect them to do what they felt was right to protect thier critters...its my responsibility to keep mine at home...I have the same mindset about wolves and coyotes.....a good one is a dead one.lol
BTW nice dingo. Would make a really cool pelt.

For sure, obsessed1b - the Heeler that we had and now the English Bulldog have collars - with rabies tags, etc. - so a big difference from the one in OP's picture. Kinda like kids - if the dog or boys get out and feeling "tough" - they have to live with what they started - is a limit to how far Dad or Grandpa will go...

i've had people line up on my heeler .... my response was a warning shot and me lined up on them ......... #### got really apologetic when they saw me

in my time , ive shot about a Dozen or so Wild Dogs, an this along with maybe 2 others 'looked visually' Dingo, the rest majorly inbred, as below.

I fully understand where you're coming from.
