I sneaked away for a couple of days to enjoy Peace River country, and look for a nice fat WT Buck.
I got exactly what I was looking for a very nice 5x5 Whitey. A real Butterball too. at least 1" of fat
on his rump.

He was getting out of dodge, so had to take a shot when he was on the move. Hard to place the
shot exactly under those circumstances at 178 yards. Going to lose a bit of meat from the shoulder.
He basically died on his feet, with momentum taking him a few feet. I'm happy with him anyway. Dave.

Sorry about the sideways pic.

Congratulations man, and good hunt. Can't wait for General Rifle to open up here in Manitoba so I can get out and put some meat in the freezer. Call me optimistic, but I just ordered my second deer tag.

Here you go:

You need an I-pad dude ;)
Congrats Dave, the larder is going to have one less shelf to worry about.

Great picture! Well done. Even though I keep buying whitetail tags I've yet to see a legal one here in BC except on private land. So I'll keep my fingers crossed for one day. :)

Awesome Eagleye and congrats! Now I have a slight kink in my neck, from trying to count the points on your buck.;)

He has a broken-off brow tine on one side, but a long "sticker" at the base of that antler, so makes up for the missing brow.
I'll try and take a picture that shows it better.

Rhys, since you asked :) Ranged at 178 by my partner, Rifle: Winchester M70 Ultimate shadow in 325 WSM with a Laminate
stock upgrade. [I'll post a picture with the antlers later] Load is 196 Norma Oryx, chased by 70 grains of Norma MRP. Much
more than needed for deer, but I was also looking for an elk [They were hiding. lol] Needless to say, the bullet was not recovered.
Dave.

Dang Boy!!! 325WSM...... hells bells!
thanks for the information man, love it... good to hear the big 325 sorted it out no squalms !
bugger about the Elks but thats a huntin!

Good work mate

Nice rack, Eagleye. He should taste great with various prepared meals. Now other people with have neck strain when watching your new hood ornament goes by.;)

Almost disappointed to not see your 303 Brit with that stud.

It would have resulted in the same end, I'm sure. :) I shot a deer last fall with my Ross 303.

I was packing the WSM because Elk are spooky by now, and there is a possibility of taking a
longer poke at one. I limit my 303 to around 300M, whereas the WSM is good to 500.
Unfortunately, no elk this trip, but the deer is a nice one anyway.

The scope on the WSM is a VX-III 3.5-10x40 B&C the second horizontal puts that 196 Oryx
dead on at 500M. Not quite as flat as my 8mm Rem Mag, but decent. Dave.
