Your 2 cents on Norinco pistols

I only shot a Norinco once and it was tuned etc. Shot pretty good but you could get a real nice 1911 like an entry level Kimber for about 1000-1100 new or somewhat less used and if it's like mine you don't need to do anything else to it and the resale value is very good.

I've had a variety of Norincos over the last few years. Yes, one was a lemon (M-93 .22 that originated at Lever) but I only paid $75 for it. The NZ-85B was exceptional, the Sig clone good, the Tokarev a fun blaster and I still have my 1911 - it's by far the most accurate gun I own, and not just because it makes big holes. I'd recommend it to anyone, with the caveat that you should buy from Marstar or Armco (warranty). I also have S&W's and Rugers, so I'm not completely a 'Rinco guy :)

...as I bite down on a ridiculously overpriced Cuban cigar, looking over this thread and chuckling to myself, from a Corinthian leather couch aboard a Gulfstream IV somewhere over Nevada, I gotta say that there's nothing like a spirited debate to enliven the season...

...it's been a while since I've seen this kind of passion...yet I'm accused of being insecure??

...maybe I should buy a "Norc" so I can fit in... :)

I wasn't aware that the jet-set had a predilection for AO 1911's. Apparently, they're all the rage over Nevada.

Enjoy your flight.

Range Cred??? WTF....Ha ha ha....Wow - I guess I should double bag my Reck pistol just in case.....

I better not ask the Jolly Old Fat Man in the red suit for the following:

In those days if they ran out the'd just send you a real one :)

No, stick with the Auto-Ord 1911 you are contemplating.... :p

even the worst norinco 1911 would be better than the colt series 70 government that i had brand new! that was the worst piece of krap i ever owned. my buddy has a couple of norc 1911s that he shoots the poo out of all the time and he tells me he has 0 problems. i think i'm going to get one!

Seems everyone has an opinion. My is the Norc's are worth the money, the 1911 and Sig copies anyway. Do yourself a favour, buy one and see if you like it. If you don't, then sell it. Norc's hold there value extremly well, you won't loose more then $50.00. I often seen the Norc's sell for more then what Marstar sells them for. Not bad for a "POS" gun.

I'm in the process of buying a NP-18..for cheap(I wanna 9mm just to have). My next Norc purchase will probably be an M-93, So that's three Norc's, M-305, NP-18(M-93 in the New Yr). Cheap guns..so what. I don't shoot enuf pistol to care about awesome groups at 15-50yds. If they keep all shots in a fig.11 @7yds...perfect!
The M305 is a different story......

NP40's good, just as good as many real CZ's I've played with. Not as huge a savings buying the Norinco vers. of a CZ compared to a Sig or Colt Clone but still a couple of hundred.

Don't think real CZ's, Sig's are made in North America either so don't feel any domestic obligation.

Keep in mind that Norinco is acting as a marketing agency. The firearms are made in different factories. There are quite a variety of Chinese firearms being sold in this country. Quality seems to be variable from model to model. Some models demonstrate variable QC. The M93 seems to be particularly inconsistant; I've only fired one, and it was just fine, other folks report ongoing problems. The NP-29 (1911A1 pattern single stack 9mm) would appear to be among the best, and the M305 is well established.
I only own two Chinese firearms, and am satisfied with both. I've sold quite a number at retail, and quite frankly, some were embarrassing. A couple haunted me, took a bit of tinkering to get the darn things to work. There are some that I would neither own, nor sell.

That's very likely, considering that there were none in the last shipment, and the NP-29 is one of the best in the product line. As Hungry says.....

Got an M-93 for plinking. It works as good or better than some of the $1800. Smiths that I've seen. I have yet to se it jamb, regardless of the ammo, can't say the same for some of the expensive stuff. Accuracy is decent, it probably shoots better than me. My only sore spot ( and it is a little one) is that it comes with only one mag from the place east of Ottawa. Shop around and you will find the same gun, at the same price with two mags.

For the record, I was just 'testing the waters' here with the AO post - which I will keep up there for amusement...

...tasers eh?...aboard the Gulfstream...hmm...does Norinco make tasers? (the kind with the flying hooks, preferrably, so that I don't have to get up off of the Corinthian leather couch too quickly and risk spilling my drink while I'm layin' the "shake & bake" on some Al-Quada radical who stowed away behind the bar, full of seething discontent...

...in fact, at Norinco prices, I can buy TWO tasers and double up on the action...two fisted to the very end...

...God I love this site! :)

The Chinese have learned a lot about production from the Russians. Quality control is sometimes a bit iffy but the majority seem to be good utilitarian guns. The ones I have shot have been accurate, balanced and easy to handle. With the price Marstar charges for them, well who can't afford one! For me it is like comparing German or American diesel engines. They are better finished and built to closer tolerances than the Russian or Chinese engines but you could pour a load of gravel through those cheap ugly engines and they just keep chugging along while the close tolerance machines are DOA. Norinco may never have a place in your display case but they sure seem to be hardy little critters!
