The TAVOR

I do know that collectors licences in Norway allow full autos to be owned and fired! I have a friend there, I'll try and look him up and ask! He shoots a bren, Vickers and Thompson all full auto!

Speaking of Tavor variants, I got this photo from Max Popenker, of the site world.guns.ru.

He said it is a semi-auto version sold in Scandinavian countries (Norway, he thinks) several years ago.

From what CanAm Chris had told me, his was the very first semis sold to civilains anywhere. Apparently, some early prototypes have been sold to civvies before.
Anyone here from Norway that can give more info?

those are the one in Shotshow few years ago, before the deal with Barrett fell through.

Tavor Sample

Tried the loaner Tavor at the OSA 3-gun match on 24 Aug. Nice shooter, ergonomics are great. The general concensus was the Mepro sight was good for tactical distances but the dot is way too big for longer distances. Maybe a sightless (less expensive) version would be more appealing to potential buyers, so they can picatinny mount the sight of their choosing. Quite alot of interest was generated for this rifle.

Hey Slavex,

Whats the 'drop in' fee for Abby...?

I'd love to do one over in Mission, but with the 'guest' fee up to $20 this year, and 'single round' only, I don't think I'd get many takers...
The range is 'open to the public' on weekends (for the $20 fee...), through to the end of Sept, so I might be able to get something set at the 10 Sept general meeting...

After the Montreal test shoot on Aug18-21, I sent the Tavor to Milcun range (Ontario) for the OSA 3-gun match (aug25-26).
I was supposed to give my impressions here, but Hungry was faster and his fantastic review sums up perfectly my impression of the Tavor.
So, please check this thread: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177117

I would only like to add that the only major drawback that we found is the side-ejection which prevents the shooter to quickly change firing shoulder (well actually you can try it, if you don't care about receiving hot brass in the teeths !). However, since this issue mostly applies to mil/LE professionals and action shooting games enthusiasts (IPSC/PPC), it's of no real concern for casual plinking, target and varmint shootin'.

All the rest of the Tavor is superb engineering and milspec quality.
Bottom line, this non-restricted, 10rd semi-auto bullpup is this year's "must buy".

Of course, like other stated, my choice of optic would be a variable 1-4X scope, with illuminated reticule and integrated bullet drop.

Ok, now a video & some pics (...sorry for my low res. camera):

With the picatinny rail installed that may be possible, just like any other optic actually...

I heard the rail coming with the Tavor (for 300$) was small . Will there be enough space to move the sight back and forth to set the Elcan properly knowing that it has a 70mm eye relief ?

Canada Ammo,

Are you planning on selling a field repair kit for this rifle? I understand that you offer a warranty but this may come in handy in 10-20 years.

Thank you
