Should be a shoe in for approval as it is a reciever within a fake receiver designed to look like an MP5. Would be the same as taking a 10/22 or 597 or whathaveyou and dropping it into a different body...

Links Suck.

I originally saw this thread a few months ago when it was only a few pages long.
It has probably been answered, but I am going to ask again, instead of sifting through 51 pages of pics and argument...

Where can I get one?
How much do they cost?
What is their legals status in Canada? IE. Restricted, prohibited, non-restricted...

The look like a lot of fun!

Thanks for those links! Those pictures probably give a better look at this firearm then i could looking at one in person (over the gunstore counter that is). Definately alot of metal in there :) Does anyone know if it is aluminum or white metal?

Send that link to the RCMP. If they don't want to inspect one in person, they have more than enough material there...

Looks really well made ! If the tolerances are tight enough may be it can be an accurate platform in its own right. As expected it doesn't even look close to be an HK clone inside the receiver... Normaly if the RCMP uses the logic they've used lately it should be non-restricted without questions (only if OAL is respected ofcourse).

If the price is on par with the 500$ I see in USA I'd pick one, the look cool factor is definitly there. I'd like to know where you guys got that 800$ figure...

No, the 800$ figure came from our estimates. Assuming we get it imported from the USA, there are quite a few fees/taxes to deal with. Otherwise, we might get lucky and pay 600-700$ if a national distributor can import them directly...

It's tough to say, but odds are they'll be around 7-800$. It's not a figure we pulled out of our collective ass.

If that's the case I'm sorry, must have missed it somewhere in the first 50 pages. :) I don't see why it would even be 600-700 if a national distributor imports them. Just doesn't seem right for some reason... Oh well, I'm waiting for them to be available as non-restricted before I start thinking about the price.

No, dude, it's not going to be a "clone". DUH!
Clone, copies and variants are bad words here. Don't you know it?
A new .22 is under development by GSG that will be of totally new manufacture and design that takes stylistic clues from the Kalishnikov line of rifles.
Stylistic clues... I like that! :D But that is all true but the RCMP/CFC just see the outside when they like to.

Beg to differ. Why would importers pay a distributer in the US instead of getting it direct? And if they did, where do you get $300 ($800-$500) in "fees/taxes"? There isn't $300 in "fees/taxes" for $350 Ruger pistols coming from the USA. Perhaps you could list a source for these fees (on orders of 100+ rifles)?

You are right. There is no reason that you should pay that much more than the US.

Looking at the pictures they don't look that bad but do seem to have a fair bit of plastic. But how much plastic is on a real MP5?

While some of you might want the non-restricted version with the "fake suppressor" I will take a more original looking model with the collapsing stock and short barrel. I think it looks much better and will add to the fun! :D

There was a study I read that suggested that Canadians actually LIKE to pay more more things, like cars, because it makes them feel better about themselves and their ability to pay more. In the same manner, some are suggesting they would pay more knowing that most people would not.

without reading the previous 50 pages, this may have been asked...

but WHY do you guys want an MP5, never mind one in .22???

i have shot and carried daily 9mm MP5's for years when i was in the UK police and to put it bluntly, they are boring. they are so accurate a 2 year old couldnt miss in temrs of what they are made for, ie getting a group in a persons chest area. but would be useless for proper target shooting, useless for hunting and in .22 wouldnt even work like a real mp5.

the real MP5's use a delayed blowback system which im sure a .22 shell wouldnt have enough power in it to do. so all this one must be is some other gun with a toy MP5 case over it....
