In the video the barrel says 3 1/2 chamber
I bought one of the last wingmasters .... and it came with a light contour barrel chambered for 3 1/2 inch shells.
Even though the receiver can only handle 3 inch ones ...

You tried to buy 870 parts lately?

Then you got something made up at the gun shop
The 3 1/2 blued wingmaster barrels came on 3 1/2 receivers factory and were a very limited run. Replacement barrels were for all three shot shell sizes and stamped as such for the last number of years
Cheers
No ... from the factory ... a shop can't just make up a 200th Anniversary Limited Edition ... ;-)
No but they can sure put a new replacement barrel on one.
The 200th guns were an express with a 28" 3" barrel and the wingmaster was a 26" 3"
Think about what you are saying. The factory supplied a barrel capable of firing 3 1/2" shells on a receiver designed for only 3"
NOPE they had enough court cases for other mistakes
Cheers
3macs1, that is exactly what I am saying!
3 1/2 inch chamber on a 3 inch receiver from the factory!
I think you need to watch that video again .... that Fieldmaster is the same thing!
You tried to buy 870 parts lately?
Have you tried to buy Ithaca parts for the last 20 years. Most stuff impossible
OK but I don't believe in santa. How long is your barrel just wondering. No idea about video
Let me guess you have one of the five from frontier firearms that magically appeared last spring 5 years after they were made by remington but you know it has the right barrel on it as supplied by the factory
Correct me if I am wrong
take care
3macs1, early santa just for you ......

I think this move could work out well for Remington. The pump action is declining in popularity in North America for the average buyer. Mossberg and Turkish built pumps have the low end economy niche secured. Ithaca still makes a fine pump in very limited production that lists at near 1500.00 Canadian last time I checked. Browning cheapened down the BPS but it still runs 1100 bucks or so MSRP. A well built, reliable pump that has some nice finish (not elaborate) for under a thousand bucks just may sell well. But I still feel the real value is watching for very good condition used models 37 Ithaca, 870 Remington and Winchester model 12 often priced at around 500.00 or lower. Of course features like camo dipping, screw in chokes and loooong chambers may not be in this picture. As for the Express not being well critiqued here, I have owned several in all offered gauges and have had no issues other than the occasional sticky chamber (easily addressed) that I blame on the new brass washed euro hulls more than the gun. I do regular maintenance on my hunting guns (bore swab and wipe down mostly) and never had any rusting issues either. I am just happy to see Remington back in the game. We can't afford to lose any gun builder these days.

Remington only needs to add two more masters to it's name, bankruptcy master and cavemaster. Between going bankrupt numerous times and now caving in with a $73,000,000 settlement on Sandy Hook they definitely have that figured out. I highly doubt the Fieldmaster is going to resurrect their name or the 870 line of pumps from the grave.
Nothing but nothing is cast in stone a lot of stuff came out of Ilion that was never catalogued . I have a 11-87 28" high rib fixed full choke matt finish and a few stocks that were never catalogued . I live not that far from Ilion NY my friends in Western New York came up with a lot of oddball stuff from the Ilion plant. Never say never #### does happen.
