Bought new and took to the range where I fired 2 rounds which resulted in a casing stuck in the chamber. I started to remove bolt and it slipped from my fingers, dropping back into the receiver where it stuck and stuck to the point where it could not be removed without damaging the receiver.

I returned it to the store where I was shown the hard extracted casing and could see and feel the uneven milling of the chamber left on the casing.

I really liked the design and handling configuration. I would like to buy another but am curious if others have had problems or if this one is just a one off bad one.

Tillsonburg Gun Shop was great in dealing with this situation. They get full marks for customer service.

Looking forward to any remarks, Thanks.

Thanks for the input and sharing your experience. So I presume you got a full refund? (based on you pondering on buying another)

Was there an option to exchange it? Or did it get sent for warranty work?

Regardless, good to know Tillsonburg took care of you. I have bought several guns from there, and so far, no problems but good to know that I'd be taken care of it there was a problem (can't say that about all other stores). Tillsonburg is one of the good ones.

In the black rifles subforum, another new owner of a gen2 WK reported issues with it at the early outset. Then again, others have reported no issues.

I was strongly considering getting one (even though I have a WK gen1 which thankfully has been relatively problem free except occasional rattling noises), but seems like the QC issues may still be prevalent in this generation on a hit/miss basis.

Yes the option for warranty repair was presented but not encouraging. There is no reliable timeline for repairs. There were no other rifles for an exchange. The item seems to be very popular. At this time I am considering a Kel Tec RDB or the Gen 2, it comes down to whichever is available first.

Sounds like they still have tolerance issues between the cam pin and the track it rides in on the receiver. I had this happen on a gen 1.5 that was fixed with a mallet, luckily.

I have on that runs flawlessly. But Im starting to see reports of some pretty awful QC. Not a good look for Kodiak going forward. They will 100% fix it for you, but sending out trash is unacceptable.

The store was good for the refund. They could not give me any kind of repair timeframe, so I will wait and see what comes up in the meantime. Glad yours works good, I do like the design and handling but...

I've bought from Tillsonburg before and will continue to do so. Glad to hear they looked after you like they should.

I was watching these rifles with great anticipation but with the issues some are having I think I'll wait for the 2.5 or 3.0 generation? (I went with an IWI solution instead)cou:

How can you not make a simple gun properly in 2022 while the OG design made decades and decades ago...

Not to mention tons and tons of feedback and a gen 1 and a gen 1.5 and you still can't get it right?!

I've watched kids make better guns with hand tools in the Philippines then these...

Sad.

Have a Gen 1 serial number under 125. Went back for warranty service after less than 50 rounds. Chamber was too tight (got one of the first units made with the bad reamer) and the gas block was hitting the handguard.
Kodiak was good on the warranty but the metallurgy and QC of their stuff is very sub-par.

I was looking at a Gen 2 but they have not fixed the biggest issue which is overgassing so not a chance Kodiak.

Seems to be the new NEA/BCL. They have had a few years to fix these rifles. Still the same......

Why the heck do they use a carbine length gas system instead of a mid?

I'm guessing they still had a large stock if barrels we with carbine length gas tubes and the matching pistons. It's still over-gassed to hell to eat all ammo and function in the deep cold. Hopefully True North Arms will release their redesigned adjustable gas block for the WK soon, as this would help people dial things to their own ammos' required gas and reduce system wear. TNA should consider building a multi part carbine length piston system, similar to the one on the original AR180 and the Sterling R18, but shorter. The multi part system has more flex and give, and is thus less likely to snap of things fall out of alignment. This would be easier and cheaper to then a barrel swap to use a mid or rifle length piston.

Yeah, no doubt. I was thinking the same thing when I read the OP. I've got my tax return burning a hole in my pocket and I really wanted to get a WK180c, but the lack of consistency and QC has got me holding onto my money...

Well i guess that's a fair point, but you should at least incorporate an adjustable gas system like so many rifles have, i can forgive it for prototypes and gen 1 but by gen 2 this should be figured out

If they KNOW the guns are overgassed and everyone wants a different gas tube length (which is probably the most common complaint I see about these other than chewing up receivers and broken charging handles, and it seems likely that they are related?), they should have planned this out a long time ago. If the rifle would function better with a longer gas system then they should have incorporated that into their Gen2 design.

If the only reason they kept carbine length is because they had stock, that sounds like penny pinching that is going to cost them in the long run via lost sales - I'm not sure if a longer gas system would fix the common problems with these guns, but I know a few people who have avoided buying one because of threads like this one where the OP ran into problems almost immediately. I don't have the money or the patience to deal with a $1500 gun that doesn't run right or eats itself alive...

No excuse not to have an adjustable gas block tbh. Its an extra hole and a set screw. It isnt f*ckin rocket science.

I have a gen 2 that has been 100% flawless and it still pisses me off that they clearly just ignored their customers complaints and put "lipstick on a pig" so to speak.

The gen 2 is 100% an improvement. But a few little things would have made it a real winner.

Adjustable gas block, multi piece piston, better furniture ($30 A2 set on a $1500+ gun really?) and an integral brass deflector would have been VERY easy to do, costed marginally more to produce and improved the fit and functions of the rifle.

Other things such as a fluted barrel to remove some of the front heavyness from the heavy barrel would have been a bonus though extra machine time = higher price.

I would have paid $1800 all day long to have these improvements.
