what scope would you put on a 45-70

as the title says. Im looking at possibly putting a scope on my 45-70 sbl and wondering what you guys are using out there? or suggest.

been looking at Leupold 1-4x20.

I put a Bushnell Elite 3200 2-7x32 on my 45-70.

Works good.

i had a 6500 1.25-8x32 before i sold the rifle and scope and i do think the 2-7x33 or 32 is another good choice.

I have Bushnell elite 3 x 9. But it mostly stays at 4x. Unless I'm benching groups.

Leupold 1-4x or anything that starts at 1x great for close up two eye open shooting

I have a Vortex UGH-1 gen 2 on mine… in my opinion with the recoil the LPVO’s don’t have the proper eye relief. I would go with a scout scope or a red dot.

i have a ZEISS Conquest V4 1-4x24 on my Henry 45-70 and it has held up perfectly.

A 1-4 or 2-7 would be pretty perfect, red dot would work well if you don’t need the magnification.

I put a FXII 2.5x20 on my 1895 Marlin 444, weighs only 6.5 oz...really happy with it. I'd do the same again if it was in 45-70

I have a Leupold vx-freedom 2-7x33 on mine. It has decent eye relief, nice scope

I have used 1.5-2 power settings on small and light scopes, usually on scout scope mounts. I can inspect the critter for antlers and also shoot both eyes open. Best of all worlds for me. Red dots and halos would also be good choice for quick shots, but my peep sights do the same for me - if you don't need magnification, these are great options.
