OK the other day on one of the many threads going on here I saw someone mention that they had a Ruger in 300WSM and I think it was a stainless M77 to boot, been looking hard through the search function to find this person, but to no avail.

Some one quoted or mentioned back that Ruger didn't make it in 300WSM, but some else came back with how it was produced for a short time, before the guy that developed the Cartridge wanted royalties and Ruger didn't want to play that game, am I ringing a bell here for anyone yet? hope so. thanks.

This person also mentioned that they knew where to find another one, if so where might that be. I am interested.

I have one - well had one as my son seems to have permanently borrowed it. Bought it 2 years ago for an elk hunt in heavily populated grizz. country where I wanted more than one shot handy. First trip to the range with a $19 box of shells from Can. Tire (Federals I think) I was able to cover the first five shots with a toonie. Handloading has tightened it up even more. Great gun.

Might be JohnC, i'm pretty sure he has a 300wsm. Dunno if he knows where to get one though.

Mine's a Frontier, they only made them in that caliber and .325 WSM for a short while. I understand it was because of the Rick Jamison lawsuit over the WSM concept that they stopped.

A couple of other CGNers have them.

Don't know where to find one.:( Keep checking the EE and dealer's websites I guess. I'd love to find one in .325 WSM

have you considered the .300 win mag?

Nope, not looking for a long action, unless it's a 30-06 at a good price, the 300WSM has caught my attention now.

I'm off to go have a look at a new never used Winchester Model 70 Classic Stainless in 300WSM the price is $900. More than I wanted to spend, but it is one the rifles I have on my list.
There's also a Savage 16FCSS in 300WSM at the same place for $600
and Remington SPS Stainless as well as a Tikka T3 stainless, so I'm about to head over there and feel them out and see which one feels better to me.

I found one, a Stainless M77 in 300WSM with a trigger job and a nice new soft butt pad, and Ruger rings going for $600. Someone push me over the edge.

Ah nutz, apparently it's on hold for someone, so I have to wait and see if they still want it at the end of the month.

Well it's no Ruger, but I am still waiting for the out come of the Ruger at the end of the month, in the mean-time, I have purchased this Savage Model 16FCSS in 300WSM to get me started on the caliber, the super nice guys at Island Outfitters helped me out, thanks again "S" & "A"

Whole Sale Sports - in your face.

Now I know the rings and bases are just temporary, at least the rings say Savage on them( LOL ) and they just fit barely. Just some stuff that was laying around here.
This Leupold is temporary as well, when I get the bases and rings that I'm waiting for then I'll switch Leupold scopes around and put the matte scope on the matte rifle and the shiny scope on the shiny rifle, seems fitting, so do the scope applications as well. But for now.......

You start driving tacks with that Savage, you won't want the Ruger anymore.;):)

x2. The old saying that you should spend at least twice as much on your optics and mounts as you did on the rifle hold true especially here. That rifle will do any good optics justice.

Sorry I'm late, I have a ruger m77 mk2 stainless in 300 wsm that I posted about a while back. It was for trade until I used it for deer this year.

When you start having issues with feeding, ejection and that damn bolt release flange thing snagging on stuff, you will wish you bought a Ruger...;)

LOL, thanks for the input Gatehouse, much appreciated.
I never had an issue with things catching on the bolt release when I had the 110 in 30-06. I might still buy the Ruger just because and see which one preforms better, then I'll decide, but the Ruger might not happen, must wait and see.
As for feeding I have some tricks up my sleeve for that.

sweet jebus... not much room to mount that scope eh? its not touching the front bell?
this is what i was talking about in that other thread where i was telling people theyd better get a long tube scope for a Savage, or get a 1-pc picatinny rail instead of 2pc mounts.

IMO spend the $20 and order an oversized bolt handle from brownells. not only will it save your thumb from slamming it against the ocular, but its so much of an improvement over the tiny stock knob its not funny. part #855-000-269

It is just a c hair from the bell if that, otherwise I won't have mounted it, the other scope that will go on there is a bit longer in the tube, thank goodness.
I was actually thinking about shaving the bolt down on this one, I'm not much of a fan of the big bolts, I find them awkward, no offense. Just glad to get a Stainless Rifle in great caliber.
