i've been after a revolver in 44 spcl for a long time, but i can't find one that has a legal bbl length. so i guess im looking at something else and the 625 came to mind.

i guess what i wanted to know, was how accurate are they? i've heard some complaints that they're not as good as 44 spcl or 45 colt.

guys who have owned them: love it or hate it?

I do not own a revolver that shoots 44 spcl or 45 colt. However, I own an SW 625 and just want to share my experience shooting my own 625.

I recently bought a SW 625 to shoot in IPSC revolver standard division. I cant say enough good things about this wheel gun.
Out of the box, I am able to shoot 1-2 inch group from 25-yards with my 625. I am sure other good shooters can do better that I do. Mind you, I reload my own ammo and since I just purchased this gun last summer, I have not yet reloaded the rounds I feed this wheel gun for accuracy, but I am sure this baby can shoot way better than I do.

There are tons of info that can be had out there.....Check out some U.S. forums... SW dot com is one good example... good luck :)

Have you consider a Smith 25-5

hi

thanks for the info guys. you bet i would condsider the .45 colt! i am partial to lower pressure rounds. easier on the ears and the gun. are you selling?:)

If you want something speacial have it built. I am just finishing up a conversion. I took a S&W model 28 357 and converted it into a 45acp with a slab sided 1 1/16 barrel. I guess it would be a cross bread 625/25.

The added advantage of the 625 is you do not need speedloaders because of the fullmoon clips and you always get your brass back and the 5 inch is nicely balanced gun.

i may yet go that way, it seems a lot of guys here want as much money for used items as a new 625 costs.

I just sold my 625-6 PC. I need the money, AAARGH! but I love that handgun, was accurate, more then me, trigger is crisp, both DA and SA, Performance Center take a shorter cylinder lenght than the regular 625, and you get the feeling that your are shooting a K frame. The price is around 25% more then the regular 625, but it is well spend money. S&W just release another series of these find handgun, i think the SKU # is 170176, go check the web site in the new firearms.

.45acp would probably be a better choice then .45LC. Target loads in the LC are only about 1/10th case capacity which doesn't lead to great consistancy.
ACP brass and bullets are far easier to come by as well.

ill keep that in mind, i may yet get a new 625. i've been looking for a 44 spcl forever though, i hear they are really accurate

if i were to buy new, is the pc version worth the extra expense? i haven't found a price actually for the pc model, anyone know how much it goes for? or who has good prices on s&w's in canada?

When it comes down to the S&W 625 very few people don't like the way they shoot and the accuracy.

I don't know where you got this from. The two 625s I've owned have been tack drivers and will shoot 1 hole groups at 25 yards. I even used them for silhouette shooting out to 100 yds. Furthermore, the 625 is Jerry Miculek's gun of choice.
