What rifle(s) are you planning to carry for big game this year?

My current choices look like this

Blackbear

Winchester XTR Sporter in .300 H&H, with a 2-7 Redfield in Qd Warne Mounts, I’ll be shooting factory Federal 180gr Trophy Bonded tipped

Ruger No.1 in 9.3x74r wearing a Burris Safari 1.5-5 in factory mounts, shooting Norma 286 gr Oryx or Alaskans

Whitetails

Win 94 AE 26” .44 Mag with a Williams peep loaded with Hornady factory 240gr XTPs

Brno 21H in 7x57 Scope with a Leupold M8 4x, load yet to be determined.

I am pretty keen to use the No.1 so I may take it for whitetails too.

Likely either an early 60's Winchester 94 in 30-30 with Hornady 50gr Interlock handloads, or a Sako Forester in .308, topped a Leupold Vari-X III 2-7. If I can get the stock work on the Forester finished on time, I'll do some load development for that, otherwise I'll have to see what factory ammo it likes.

This'd be for eastern Ontario whitetails.

Sheep, whitetail, elk and bear will all be pursued with my 7 mag tikka t3x with some mild custom work done to it. It puts 160 grain accubonds into half inch-ish groups pretty regularly, so I have a hard time justifying using much else.

Bear season: 70's vintage Marlin 336 35 Remington shooting 200gr FTX

Controlled hunt: Savage 220 with a leupold 2.5-8

Rifle season deer: Win 70 EW 270wsm and Marlin 336 35 Remington

Muzzleloader deer season: Traditions 50

Pretty much the same as every year. All the rifles I buy and sell I still just use the same ones every year.

For moose will be either a Tikka T3 stainless in 30 06 using handloads 180 gr Interbonds over 57 gr of R 19 or my Rem 7600 in 35 Whelen using factory 225 Trophy Bonded bear claws.
For deer will be my Savage 99 in .308 probably using factory Remington 180 gr Corelokts.

I’m only hunting the whitetail buck this year for big game. The rifle I’ll be using is a Austrian Kipplauf chambered in the 300 H&H, and will have my custom 270 Winchester as backup.

I’ll be carrying my Christensen MPR with 16” barrel in .308 for sheep and deer and my 12” Chiappa 45-70 for bear. I think that covers all the bases !

Going to try bear with my CVA .50
After that I’ll be using ether a 336 in 35 rem or a Browning in 30-06

I love hearing about the old and/or odd stuff people are using. Unfortunately I don’t trust myself with open signs anymore.

I have a cow elk draw this year so will dust off the old Parker Hale 7mm Rem Mag and will also take along H&R 35 Whelen single shot for back up.

For moose I will carry my M70 Winchester 325WSM, shooting the 200 AB or the Norma 196 Oryx.
Backup: 308 Norma Mag and 180 A-Frames.

Elk will se my 8mm Rem Mag and the 220 A-Frame. Backup: 308 Norma and the 180 Scirocco II.

Deer.....lots of choices there from the 6mm Rem to the 30-06
Black Bear, the 8x57JS and the 196 Norma Dual-Core.

Too many options....hard to decide sometimes. :) Dave.

Caribou has already been tagged by a 7mm RM t3x and 160gn accubonds, will also be my sheep rifle.
Everything else will be my 9.3x62 and 286 partitions
