CDTSA will be holding 3 3-Gun matches this year! Mark your calendars for:

June 5RegistrationRound CountScores
July 24RegistrationRound CountScores
September 11RegistrationRound CountScores

As always, we will be setting up the day before and permitting camping. Camping will start on the Friday night before matches, for anyone who wants to make a weekend out of it. Setup will start around 10AM the Saturday before all matches.

It is very important that we get a good turnout to help set up the match the day before, as well as help from all the participants to put stuff away when we're done. These are fun matches, but they can only happen if everyone chips in to help.

Here are some answers to questions that I'm sure a lot of you have. If you want some clarification on any of my answers, let me know. If this information brings up more questions, let me know.

Directions to the range - On our website, we have a downloadable map to the Milo range. Please pay very close attention to the requirement to come down Range Road 223 and backtrack along Township Road 184. This keeps your dust out of our closest neighbours on Range Road 224, plus it's a safer road (less hills). If this map is in any way unclear, please let me know and I'll see if I can cook up a version that can be downloaded directly to Google Maps on your phone for turn-by-turn awesomeness.

Registration - We use Practiscore for registration and scoring. Details will be available later, but as in the past, people should start showing up at or before 9:00AM to check in, fill out guest passes, pay, etc. Registration will be followed by a safety briefing. We will begin the safety briefing at 9:30 AM sharp. Attendance at the safety briefing is mandatory. If you arrive after the safety briefing, you will be turned away.

Black Badge and other Certifications - We do not require holster courses. There may be parts of the courses of fire that are different if you do not have a holster course. Basically, if you don't have a holster course, you won't be allowed to start a stage with a round in the chamber of your pistol. We do, however, frequently require you to start with an empty pistol regardless of training or certification as part of the CoF for a stage. Our matches are set up to appeal to both 3-Gun aficionados as well as first-timers.

Round Count - Typically, we keep the match round count in the neighbourhood of 150, total. That is any combination of pistol, rifle, shot shells, and slugs. Prior to the match, we will announce an overall breakdown. For example "Match X on day Y will require 50 pistol, 75 rifle, 18 shot shells, and 6 slugs." I will stress that you should always bring extra ammo. The round counts are for a 'perfect' score, and we don't see many perfect scores. Additionally, if there is a failure of range equipment (timer, prop failure, etc), you may be required to reshoot a stage. I'm typically showing up to a match with probably 4x as much ammo as I need, but I like to make people feel good by missing a lot.

Amenities - We're far enough from the nearest town that you cannot run off to get lunch, water, sunscreen, etc during the match. We're an outdoor range. Sometimes it's hot, sometimes it's cold, sometimes it's windy, sometimes it's muddy. I would recommend bringing an entire change of clothes, just in case. If you have a cart for carrying all your stuff, bring it. Our range is built on a 1/4 section, so there's some walking involved when going from stage to stage. Plan to move your stuff around by carrying it or using a cart. Bring lunch, water, sunscreen, bug spray, a hat, sunglasses, etc. See the rule book for information on carts.

Rules - Our official rule book is here:
http://www.cdtsa.ca/uploads/1/8/3/3/18330887/cdtsa_3-gun_rules_2020.pdf

Please note that we have run 13 different divisions for the last 2 years - including 2 different 2-Gun divisions. This year, we are dropping the 2-Gun divisions and bringing back steel targets for some of the rifle shooting, instead of using nothing but paper targets for rifles.

Ammunition - See the rule book for information on permissible ammunition. The Coles Notes version is that we do not allow any ammunition with steel penetrator cores. If your bullets stick to a magnet, they will not be allowed. NOTE: The bullet cannot stick. Steel-cased ammo with lead-core bullets is 100% fine.

Hi All,

Registration for the first match of the 2022 season will open on May 5th at 8PM. As always, only CDTSA members will be allowed to register for the first 24 hours.

General registration will commence at 8PM on May 6th at 8PM.

Hey All,

Here's the round count for Match 1:

Pistol: 40
Rifle: 53
Shotgun: 44
Slug: 2

As always, this represents a perfect score, so expect to shoot much, much, more.

Hey All,

Before I get to the round count, I'm going to mention that the forecast for this weekend is very sunny, very hot, and very dry. Please make sure that you bring sunscreen and a lot of water.

Now, the round count:
Pistol: 45
Rifle: 52
Shotgun: 34
Slugs: 2

See you on Sunday!

Hey All,

Hopefully those of you that made it out to 3-Gun yesterday aren't too badly sunburned.

I just wanted to remind you that registration for the 2-Gun match on August 28th opens tonight at 8PM for CDTSA members. General registration opens tomorrow at 8PM.

CDTSA 2-Gun Match 2

Would like to thank Jeff and the crew for the hard work in putting on that match yesterday - it was an awesome day to put on a 3gun match. I didn't get a sunburn but I think my brain got fried a bit because I made some really stupid mistakes missing targets haha. Had a boat load of fun shooting with squad 2.

We should have the round count out by the end of next week at the latest. But the way our matches work is we have a max load out. And all stages only require half of the max loadout for required hits. Based off 40 pistol and 30 rifle per stage. The max you'll be able to shoot is 200 pistol (based off 4 10rnd mags and 5 stages) and 150 rifle (based off 6 5rnd rifle mags and 5 stages). But required hits can only be half of the max loadout.

August 28th 2 Gun round count.
69 pistol
52 rifle
We strongly encourage people to bring plenty of extra. While we have a max loadout, there could be reason for a reshoot. Max load out would be 4 pistol mags and 6 rifle mags per stage. Which works out to 200 pistol rounds and 150 or 300 rifle rounds depending on magazine size. While the round count is low, the stages are challenging and no one will shoot it clean, so bring lots.

Hey All,

The round count for match 3 is as follows:
Pistol: 40
Rifle: 37
Shotgun: 58
Slug: 8

This match is also a little bit special - it is our first 5 stage match!

It will include a Shotgun Mega Stage. For those that haven't experienced a mega stage before, it's 100% shotgun. Minimum round count will be 25 shot shells, plus 2 slugs. Make sure you have enough pockets to carry that many shells. You may also want to bring a glove for your support hand - your barrel will be burning hot by the time you're half way through the stage.

As always, this round count is a perfect score. You will need more rounds than this.
