Curious what would be a recommended scope for my 7.62x39 zastava?

Doesn't have to have high magnification, maybe a 2-7 or even a fixed power?

Has to be nice and compact, right now it has irons on it, thinking of possibly upgrading later?

If 3x is enough and you do really want small, I'd consider the Primary Arms micro prism 3x with the 7.62X39 reticle when ever they eventually show up.

I guess it depends on your intended use... Personally, I'm a sucker for the Leupold 1.5-5 (or the 1-4x)
- Just a little annoyed they no longer offer it in gloss...

The low power leupold's are nice and lightweight compared to many newer scopes today, the newer models with illumination are pretty nice though. Illumination is a bit like heated socks, not necessary but appreciated when needed.

Along with the Leupolds, keep an eye out for Burris Mini scopes. They turn up from time to time. Just got a 2-7.

Would you have a photo of your scope? Sounds like a interesting one!
I was looking in my scope stash and have a bushnell elite 3200 2-7x32, it would be perfect if it was about 2 inches shorter.

Scorpion compact 3-9x32mm scope. Lifetime warranty. You can get it with or without the SKS mount.

Other options might be one of the compact UTG/Leapers scopes or a 2-7x32mm Hawke Vantage at 11.5" ($160) or 2-7 Hawke AirMax at 10.5" ($300).

My rifle isn't a SKS, it's a bolt action Zastava LKM 85

I have a 2-7 bushnell. It's 11.6 inches according to chuckhawks.

I’m 100% with you on that, plus it would be great to have a choice of classic reticle, #1 or #4 would be great!

I have a VXIII-HD 1.5 x 5-20 on my CZ 527, it's quite perfect. If I was forced to switch ..... I would stay in the same size, weight and power ! That scope fits size and power of the rifle.
