Norinco red box

It's non corrosive and new production ammo. All is well.

Dont be so sure. I bought 10 boxes of "non corrosive" norinco from Cabelas last year and it was the most corrosive ammo I've ever shot. Thank god I thought to check my sks after "just in case". That was white box, however. I have not shot the red box, but I wouldn't be putting money on them being what they're labelled as.

everything i've heard here (from about 10 contributors) is that white box is hit and miss but red box is non-corrosive

Anyone had issues with 7.62x39 red box from norinco being corrosive mine is 18 and 19 stamp

I have shot 50+ boxes of 311 - 19 headstamp that I got from my club, from Tenda, from Cabela's....all turned up non corrosive. I have purposefully and deliberately not cleaned my SKS' gas tube, piston rod, barrel, bolt or anything in the action...check 2-3 weeks later. No issues. On multiple SKSes.

I have also found that 311 - 20 headstamp (bought at G4C, and Cabela's) has no issues as well for red box.

For those who have reported corrosion, please report which headstamp your rounds have. I can say that I have shot 14, 19 and 20 all without issues.

Cabela's was selling white box last year (2021)? That's weird, as all the Cabela's I have seen are selling red box (but that said, the photo on the Cabela's website is white box so maybe it was a recent change) Do you have any rounds left or the steel shot casings? What was the headstamp? Only white box NC I have shot is 2014 headstamp and it has all shot fine. Would be curious to know which years have reported problems especially if it was recent white box.

Cabela's has been selling red boxes for the past 10 months or so. I've been buying those red boxes periodically when they go on sale for $9.99/20rds. I've already bought like 3,000. The head stamp is 2019 and 2020. Recently, I also got 2021. They shoot like a dream and are 100% non-corrosive. Unfortunately, they are less accurate than the Barnaul rounds. I missed Barnauls so much! Damn sanctions on Russia.
Yes, Cabela's have a completely wrong white box picture on their website. Quite funny. I have no idea why?

Mighe have even been 2 years ago. I don't have the boxes with me on hand, but I will definitely check headstamp and get back to you guys. After seeing how corrosive it was, i tossed it in an ammo can and its still in storage from when I moved.

I finally got out and checked the headstamp of the "non-corrosive" white box that rusts your gun like crazy. Factory 311, 2018 manufacture

That is interesting...they also sell 311 18 in the red box. I have shot 311 18 from red box and have not had any problems. Hopefully it is is not just simple repackaging of the same stuff...it would be good if they had pulled all the white box, though I worry how anyone can tell loose rounds that are 311 18 whether it is from red or white box if they don't have the box.

I can now see why there may be some confusion and consternation on Cabela's reviews when they are showing white box in the photos, but are actually selling red box (with headstamp 311 20). I bought a bunch at G4C recently and it's all 311 20. Tenda still has 311 19 on their shelves, but in both cases it is red box and in testing, has shown to be non corrosive in all my SKSes

Anybody have pics of the white box??

As Cabela's is not a site sponsor I won't link to it, but if you go to the Cabela's website and search norinco you will see the white box...BUT the ones Cabela's actually sells now are all red box so the stock photo is misleading.

Weird indeed. I'd imagine their quality control isn't the best in the world, so maybe some corrosive primers got mixed in with the non corrosive and nobody noticed (or cared).

Looks like Cabela's/Bass Pro has a sale again on Norinco 7.62x39...and despite the wrong photo of white box in the online ad, what they sell is the red box noncorrosive (should be 311 20)...but it's $9.99 a box at the moment and in store it's the red box in stock (should also be the same online despite the old stock photo).
