I know that Henry does it, but does anyone else?

There'd be a pretty big market for a smoothbore 10/22TD barrel, wouldn't there?

Most semi autos won't cycle shot shell cartridges hence that lack of market demand. Several companies have offer pump and bolt actions over the last century

I have a couple Stevens .22lr shot & .32 rf shot , the smooth bore
makes quite the difference in patterning .

A .22 shot shell out of a rifled 22'' barrel would be ineffective
on any thing @ 15' except a butterfly whereas shot from a smooth
bore will pattern 60% tighter.

The beauty of these was the minimal damage when used indoors, removing
birds was the primary use .

Henry does a Lever action , Anschutz had a single shot & Remington made
a model 61 or 63 .22 rf shot , I'm certain there were others.

I have never owned a smooth bore .22 but after missing a couple sparrows inside the farm shop with shotshell .22's one day I patterned a couple of shots at 40 ft (length of my shop) and that rifling induces a "doughnut pattern" to the shot, hollow in the center...So I used a 2" off center aiming point and have killed birds up to pigeon size with them.

Testing CCI pest control loads (rat shot/snake shot) out of the Henry H001 rifled barrel and the new Henry Garden Gun smooth bore.

That it would be. Not to many small ponds where one could shoot over where I grew up. Lots of farm land though

I was lucky enough to grow up in an area with the sea at me back door and the forest at me front door. Lots of farming folks to work with in them days.
The smooth bore .22 I had was a Remington 510 single shot that was fun to use on rats when cleaning out chicken barns & popping fookin' starlings from
their nest holes when they showed their faces.

I would've used the 510 for more adventures, but I got way more pest whacking in with my Cooey 39 using .22 shorts along with my Slavia 620 .177 air rifle.

Made my self a smooth bore cooey single shot of some sort, with a dowel and sand paper as a kid with a ritz cracker thrower.

Results where not that good.

This gets me to thinking, could a good gunsmith remove the rifling from a beater 22 to make a garden gun? Anyone heard of this? Might be cheaper than buying a Henry

I've asked about that before and was told it could easily be done but there would be a step right after the chamber. Whether or not that would effect the pattern I'm not sure. Maybe the CCI plastic cup would upset but the crimp shells should be fine
