Just giving everyone a heads up. I just got 6lbs of varget from true north arms at 74.95$ a lb. It was 60$ shipping but that only brings the powder to 84$ a lb. Just thought I’d give everyone a heads up.

Powder is coming in now. Everyone needs to sit back and wait just a little bit longer. STOP buying $100 per pound and prices will come down shortly. Some retailers sold 8lb jugs of varget for under $470.

Wow! I'm still sitting on 16lbs of IMR4227. Selling it would cover my home heating bills for at least 3 months. Not selling it though. Who knows what availability will be like down the road.

Prices will never return to where they were, the new standard is in the $80 range, and primers will likely stay over $100/1000.

Primers are 90-170 US these days, from major US retailers, alone what new batches will be up here, if they ever arrive here, may take til 2024 before they start settling down in price though, may take that long to get any in qty. Only powders I sorta want any more of, are some Alliant ones, maybe some AA, but, have a suspicion they are European powders, and strikes me as that won't happen for quite a while, they are kinda busy over there. Hopefully by the time I get to actually needing components again, P&A will have settled down again. We shall see.

Agreed it will come down a bit. It will never return to the good old days, but anyone that’s been through a shortage before knows the price will regulate somewhat. I already see that Varget for example is in stock at numerous retailers now and isn’t flying off the shelves like it was. To find 4350 in stock anywhere without total sell out is also interesting!

I load IMR powders. What is Varget used for (rifle/pistol/ magnums?)?

It's been a long while since I bought powder and I'm shocked that under $100 for a pound of powder is considered a deal!?

This is the label, but it can be used for a lot of rifle calibers:

Varget is good powder for medium to large cartridges. Almost every hunting load other than magnums.
