King of the $2K optics?

scope

Anyone have the xrs3 6-36x56?

I shoot Bench Rest Rimfire out to 250 mtrs .

XRS 3 is the one which I am looking at , the retical
is finer than the XRS 2 with floating dot .

I have been shooting the Delta Javelin on my Cooper Varminter 17 HMR
love it beats the Athlon Ares , I Am
looking at stepping up to the Delta Stryker.

OP,
Are you & your equipment capable of out shooting a 1K piece of glass?

If not,a 2-3K piece of glass will NOT drive said platform!

I want to upgrade some of my glass because I can. My rigs, reloads, and equipment are dialed. I didn't start this thread to debate the merits of glass price points or how nightforce is the best. I just wanted to hear some first hand users of some scopes I'm considering

I have some experience with 3 of the optics you listed. I have never handled a Bushy so can't comment on that.
I would rank them thus:

1. Athlon Cronus - nice clear glass right to the edges, parallax can be a bit finicky on some, perfect tracking.

2. Minox LR - the downgraded version of the ZP, glass about the same in my eyes as a Cronus, 15 Mil elevation turret - if you like that.
I would not get the LR if I could find a ZP5 at the right price. ZP5 glass is amazing.

3. Apex - I have handled 2 samples, on one I found the eybox very tight, - the 2nd one extremely finicky with the diopter and the parallax settings.

Delta Stryker is another one to look at but I did not like the higher elevation turret. Glass is as good as Cronus but the reticle is a bit different which you may or may not like.

Tract is another one - they have a Canadian website now so you can order. I have handled 2. Didn't see any advantage in glass quality or reticle over Athlon or Delta. And they weigh almost 40 oz., so a pass for me.

Thanks. I think I'll go for the cronus. My Stryker should be here tomorrow so I'm excited to see how it compares to my current offerings. I wish the Bushnell reticle was a bit better as that scope gets some good reviews on the hide.

I have this scope and really like many things about it. It sits on my 457 for long range .22 shoots and has 25 mil elevation which allows me to reach out to 400 meters. The turrets are very positive, zero stop if thats something you like, and it’s FFP. $2200.

How's the G4P reticle for you? That's the main detractor for me grabbing the xrs 3. I like .2 wind holds

I really like the G4P reticle. Being new to competitive shooting as of a year ago, I’m running a few scopes with the christmas tree reticles. When you initially look through them, they appear to be quite busy, but once you’re on the bench or calculating the turret rotation requirement to shoot at any distance, the reticle becomes an asset, especially if you’re shooting wind wind. With the 1 mil marks it easier to get on target or compensate for variations in target shooting.

No experience with the XRS3 but have used the XRS2 a ton and it’s a great scope if you like the reticles offered. I have lotsa time on an H59 so it works for me.

I Have an XRS3.

But I don't own any of the others in the OPs list so I cant comment on how much better or worse it is.

Great scope though. No complaints with it. On the other hand I'm not super demanding with it.

Hey Wayne , you like the G4P reticle ?
I had the DMR 2 with the G3 , xlnt scope jusst the reticle was
too heavy.
I really like the look of XRS 3 , 6-36X56 w/G4P.

FYI, unless a US brand has a Cdn distributor, if the product has to cross the border, someone is going to need paperwork... for each crossing.

Having something priced in Cdn$ doesn't change that... and the laws aren't likely to get any easier going forward. I know for sure, the costs are only going up.

As good a deal as US direct product may be, add in all your costs including postage, brokerage..and future costs dealing with any warranty returns yourself

For an extra $110 (maybe less as US postage is pricey), having a Cdn distributor with the longevity to service me down the road.... nice cheap insurance.

Otherwise, I will consider 'overseas' for dirt cheap and just toss it if it ever breaks....YMMV
