Kimber hunter and 8x57 Owners

I dunno I hear they are just Finnish savage axis?

Also a push feed 8x57? Those went out of style when they changed bolt heads on the commission rifles

It's true metric on metric crime, with a coin slot action, not a Finnish Savage Axis. Will you really be needing to CRF to shoot trophy does at 100 yards? Going to do it upside down for style points, or something?

I think you’re right; maybe I will just get an axis. Do they make prefits in 8x57? Then I could do it in my gun room and spend what I saved on a bushnell banner

Need stainless for the wet doe hunts.

Imagine how much a synthetic stock nitride and guncote Mauser 98 with a fluted barrel would set you off because that’s the alternative

There isn't a whole bunch that makes sense on this thread...
What does the current pile of parts set aside for this... project... currently look like?

What’s the fun in making sense?

I have a safety, a stock, bottom metal, front and rear sights galore, and a set of constantly changing desires. If you want to really get confused the stock is inlet for a blind magazine

^ to make this even more convoluted

I have seen kimbers fitted to wildcat mauser stocks like mine. I was thinking the hunter was the cheapest option with a restock in a few years; but a cheap montana might work too without the stock money pit. It wouldn't have the "mauser styling" though.

Another thing I've pondered is using the bottom metal from a wood/blued 84l on the synthetic stock. Is any of this possible? I have no idea; but I bet with the correct application of money it would be. Just a matter of making it...

I recall Gary telling me that it is possible to modify the montana stock to use a floor plate. The only problem for me was to find the floor plate. The former Canadian distributor wouldn't sell me one.

I went down that route years ago and went as far as buying a classic select stainless and a Montana takeoff stock. Then the more I kept using my regular Montana I realized I prefer the blind mag anyhow.

Those classic select stainless 84s are out there, one just sold on the EE a while back. The short actions are more common.

I didn’t realize that they made classic selects in stainless steel

The gears are really turning now; I can even smell smoke

The 84L stainless classics come up on gunbroker in the states every once and awhile, they usually sell for 1000-1300 depending on the cal. Could always import one.

Lots of dicking around for a floor plate you’ll probably never use
