Question about A5 Belgium made for hunting, I know it’s an older gun but I love the way they look and have a fascination for them. I’ve read mixed things on using steel through them and as I am relatively new to the world of hunting and guns I was looking for some feedback on them. I really want to get one for hunting but I don’t want to be too limited with what I can use. Any advice on one these guns would be appreciated. Pros and Cons? Thanks in advanced!

If it's just occasional waterfowl hunting. Buy bismuth loads. It kills better than steel anyway.
It seems as you either love or hate them. I'm planning on taking my 1952 fn made one out for skeet this Sunday and seeing if I can shoot it. I have not fired it in about 25 years

A wonderful gun to shoot and hunt with, they can be well-balanced and a delight in the hand. I don't shoot steel, and prefer light loads for upland birds. Mine is a solid-rib 16 gauge, built in 1947-1948. It is worn but has been well-cared for.

The A-5 does have its quirks, though. Some find the moving barrel and associated sound effects unnerving.

Nice Gun Rem3200, it even has the instructions on the forestock still for the friction ring set up.
2-3/4 or 3'' ?
Pinfire, nice well loved A-5 and looks as though it has been well appreciated too.

It’s a 2.75”. Was hoping to sell local rather than deal with shipping these days.

Most Belgian 3 inch guns can be tapped for colonial arms thin wall choke tubes or brileys if you really like spending money. They are exceptional waterfowl guns!

They are a neat design and well made guns. I'll get one eventually.
You can get bismuth shells if you want to use a fixed choke for waterfowl, but it's pricey stuff.

I have a full choked mag that I can’t bring myself to reaming to modified as its original and in pristine conditions with round knob.

Got a Belgian auto 5 “magnum” I inherited from my grandfather, evidently he didn’t use it much as it’s basically brand new, I’ve been running it the last few days figuring out what loads it likes best, going to use it for duck, the barrel says “ special steel 12ga shells 3inch” don’t know a lot about them but it gives me the impression I can use steel shot in it, I recommend it, not a lot of recoil and it sounds like no other shotgun I’ve fired but probably requires more attention

You might want to double check but I'm pretty sure that "special steel" is not referring to steel shot.
