Magpul stock just went down a notch or two in my books....

This from another forum:

From Bushmaster Release

Bushmaster Firearms International, LLC (BFI) announced today that it has signed an exclusive license deal with Magpul Industries Corp. for the production, future development, and sales of Magpul’s prototype MASADA weapon system.

The Bushmaster ACR (Adaptive Combat Rifle) will initially be offered in 5.56 NATO, available for law enforcement and civilian purchase second quarter 2008. This release will be followed by military ACR versions in the 3rd quarter of 2008.

Without government funding or outside influence of any kind, the Masada concept was developed from scratch in Boulder, Colorado by Magpul’s Design Group. The Masada concept was first shown publicly at the 2007 Shot Show and its success prompted Magpul to spend a year redesigning the system for production.

The result is the ACR (Adaptive Combat Rifle) which keeps the fundamentals of the Masada concept with added advanced features such as firing pin block and true ambidextrous charging handle.

Among the ACR’s key features are a gas piston operating system, tool-less quick change barrel, multi-adjustable folding stock with integrated storage, and backward compatibility with a number of AR15/M16 parts. Due to similar operating controls, user transition from the M16 series of weapons is easily facilitated with minimal re-training.

The Bushmaster ACR will initially be available in 3 SKUS: Standard Carbine with fixed stock, Entry Carbine with folding stock, and Special Purpose Rifle with Precision Rifle Stock. Live fire demonstration and test and evaluations beginning in the end of March to qualified law enforcement, federal government agencies.

I think it's a good thing when a company with lots of resources and know-how buys a good idea like the Masada...

What I think this means to the CGNer is:

a) higher volume = lower prices
b) bushmaster has the resources to make multiple versions including a "sporting" version that could be approved for export.

I for one don't mind Magpul selling out. Good for them they prolly made a ton of cash.

Look, Magpul publicized their developmental prototypes because they *wanted* this. They're swearing and kicking the cat because it wasn't S&W or Ruger who bought their ####. Just piddly little assmaster.

With a scary name like "Adaptive Combat Rifle", it's likely going to be restricted!

I am so tired of this - please read the reg. and understand the working of the legislation before spewing out unfounded statements. this is just ignorance, false information spreading....

I don't think it's going to matter whatsoever since the chances of US State Department approving this product for export to civilian end-users is pretty slim... but who knows... anything's possible.

Just don't get your hopes up. (Just my 2 cents worth :) )

Cerberus' grand plan is unfolding - that is the only way EVER the Masada will be able to compete against HK, FN and Colt in any future trials.

Remember, Bushmaster churns out over 60,000 rifles a year- this capacity is needed. Besides, FN, Colt, GD and HK, Cerberus/Bushmaster is the only other guy in the block that have the resources and fundamental workforce/infrastructure to get Masada going.

It is a good move.

Here is what they sort of look like (Shamelessly taken from another gun forum :) )

I wish they'd called it the "Target Leisure Sport Rifle" for export purposes.

Good news to have Bushmaster involved. They have the ability to sell the numbers that the Masada needs to sell to become a reality.

Their quality sucks.

Well ..you must have read this somewhere..I own a Bushmaster varmitter and it is as good if not better than ANY AR on the market. You should be also aware that BUSHMASTER is the biggest manufacturer of AR15. They were also selected by REMINGTON as maker of the R15.

I think this statement is full of air..
