Smith and Wesson FPC folding carbine

If you took the KelTec Sub2000 and made it heavier and bulkier, this is what you come up with. ;)

Of course, side folding lets you keep the optic in place, that seems to be the point of this PCC.

KeltecS2K and RugerPCC had a love child?

I like what I see. 25% more weight and 10% more size than the S2K but also more features in the package: stock with mag holders, last round bolt, better trigger, ambi charge. M&P mags are OK. Great that it includes a custom bag - although 18.5" barrel is going to mess with that, and the fold aesthetic. Not sure about the width when folded - might not fit well in storage gaps? $660USD so $1099CAD if we lucky ... more likely $1499CAD!?!

As long as the added weight means the gun is more robust than the S2K it's appealing. I wore out two fairly quickly and had one blow up in my face after 4 rounds. I am done with the S2K, as neat as the idea is...

S&W lists it at 5lb. Slightly heavier than the KelTec but way lighter than the Ruger PCC's 6.8lb.

Stock is ugly, I think it would be nicer with space for only a single magazine, but at an MSRP of $659 USD the price is right.

More than likely be at that price, hopefully not but when you consider buying a kel tec and installing all these Mcarbo parts to make it just as good as this you're pretty much into the kel tec about 1400

If they're any more than $1000 IrunGuns is going to sell a bunch while nobody else sells any... Even if IRG sells them at full MSRP thats only $900 CAD with the current exchange rate, even once you add shipping and the $25 import fee or whatever you're going to be coming in under $1000 before taxes.

IMO the real question is how bad will we get raped for an NR barrel length version... If S&W makes one and keeps the price reasonable I could see this taking a lot of momentum out of the Ruger PCC sales in Canada...

I like having more options in the market, I hope this thing works better than it looks.

Yes, that stock looks like an afterthought. And the rifle is very pudgy when folded. Compared to the Sub2000 on that front, there is no comparison.

It should balance nicely, with the light polymer handguard and the shorter layout you get by having the magazines located in the grip.

But using the short grip might turn out to be an issue, I'm guessing they really wanted to be able to use M&P Compact magazines. Looks like regular mags need the spacer.

What the heck is with the safety location? It requires your off-hand in one direction.

And the supposedly non-reciprocating charging handle right in front of your face? You can see it reciprocating (albeit inconsistently) in review videos.

Regular mags wouldn't *need* the spacer. Without a spacer you'll just have a gap between the bottom of the grip and the magazine baseplate, just like you would if you used the fullsize mags in a compact frame.

Comapared to the Sub2000 you can mount optics and still fold the thing, so thats a big plus for many.

I shoot left handed, so I hate most cross bolt safeties. This is no exception, although honestly I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out.

I wouldn't have noticed the grip length issue, but IV8888 had a magazine over insertion malfunction in his review video.

I do think the side fold feature (allowing a solid optic mount) is probably the biggest selling point. You do give up the iron sight option that you have with the KelTec, but I think this is much less relevant than it ever was.

Honestly, if it works reasonably well, it's a good compromise and will be a useful addition to the PCC options available. And generally I'd like to see more PCC options with the magazine in the grip.

More options are always good. And because we have a good selection means that we get to nit pick

- looks bulky but id need to hold it to decide
- Not fan of the charging handle but id need to shoot it to decide
- No adjustable stock, unless an aftermarket ones comes out. Not sure if you can based on the buffer tube config?
- No glock mags (that's a personal thing but its super convenient having one type that works in all my stuff)

- I do really like that its only a few seconds to assemble it vs my Ruger that takes some fiddling
- I do like the "idea" of the 2 mag holder in the stock. My GSG-16 has it and i use it a lot but id need to handle it to see ergos
- I do like the mag in the grip as its less stuff to get hung up but id need to handle it

it all comes down to "id need to put a few mags through it make a decision but i don't HATE it...yet..."

US MSRP is $659. Look for Jerry Miculek's review.

Magazine capacity shouldn't be a can of worms. It is a carbine using pistol magazines. Other PCCs, like the Marlin Camp Carbine use pistol magazines, and did not result in those magazines being affected.

Or you can just cup your hand an reach under the trigger guard...
