SRV2 Siberian Reviews

I just got my Siberian from Easthill Outdoors! I fricken love it. super tight all the way around and a lot lighter than I thought it would be. They’ve got some still in stock in the store if u guys are looking to to check them out. So far no complaints from me.

The steel bolt rides on the aluminum receiver it looks like. Anyone know how to find pics of the internal area of the receiver? The videos are great but it's too blurry to see inside well.

not really, the bolt rides on the recoil spring guide rods. the only contact point I would have any concern with is the cam pin. it's actually a very smooth functioning piece of kit.

Nice. Almost bought mine from them.
What ammo and mags are you using?
Mine arrives next week, hurt my hand though so I won't be able to post my hands on review shooting it until it heals up.

This.
I can try to take and upload pictures in a day or so.

Will a typical 1.5" high mount work with this or is a 1.93" high optic mount more appropriate? Has anyone played with both?
I'm thinking an ACOG would be a good optic choice, but not if the cheek weld is too squished.

So had a couple chances to get out over the last week…and ran another 500 plus rounds. 534 to be exact - so I am exactly at 1000 rounds.

First up this week was accuracy testing.
Best groups came from Federal Match ammo, Hornady Match (both 68 grains, my notes in the photos show 62 gr but that was me being wrong)…and surprisingly my plinking ammo, 55 gr reloads…

All groups were shot at 100m benched with bipod and rear bag. There was zero wind on the range and it was about 3C outside…Scope is a Bushnell 1-6 AR Optic.

So I am satisfied with the accuracy…On par with any of my AR15’s…

Next day I just wanted to put rounds through it and get it really dirty so I didn’t clean it after the accuracy range session of 80 rounds…
Started with controlled shots on steel targets at 100, but after a few mags of that I moved over to the 25 yd range and just mag dumped into some targets, trying to burn through my ammo as quick as I could. Doing this after about 300 rounds I started to get the occasional ejection issue - not enough force to fully eject so the shell would stovepipe and jam up the bolt. I sprayed some g96 into the chamber and on/around the bolt and continued - gun ran great again until at about 400 rounds I had a wicked double feed that was a real pain to clear…after that my goal was to make it to 1000 rounds and call it a day. Made it with only two stoppages, one mag related, the other was a shell sticking in the dirty chamber. Was using Norinco surplus dated 1995 so I expect that stuff is plenty dirty.

Got home and the thing was filthy…Will give it a good clean this weekend and retest…Will also take the piston out and see if it may need a cleaning at 1500 rounds.

All in all still happy…Blaming the malfunctions on being dirty…There aren’t many situations where I’m running 300 plus rounds in a single match or range session so hopefully as long as it gets wiped down regularly it will remain reliable…We shall see.

Ejections issues that early in are kind of worrying - I don't see the gun being dirty enough at that point for that to be an issue but who knows. Were you using the same mags all day or were you using several kinds? Reason I ask is I had an XCR that would run with PMags fine but I would get intermittent stoppages with those crimped 10/30s. Maybe check the extractor and ejector. Extractor should be under fairly stiff spring pressure, you can also pop it off and give it a cleaning/inspector. With the ejector, depress it with a brass punch/cartridge and it should snap back up quickly/freely.

i'd say a double feed is more of an extractor/ejector issue - gun is cycling properly so issue is with ejection. if it is just an fte then probably short stroking - tight chamber (dirty, hot, cruddy ammo) less gas due to buildup, or just general dirtiness bogging everything down. i'd blame norinco here. i mean some mags will press on the bolt carrier harder than others and add to the problem but it appears that the primary factor here is heat and dirt. the pros and cons of tight tolerances i guess.

In my experience, double feeds with the 180 platform are a short stroke due to the gas regulator backing itself out.

I'd go 1.93"
1.5" is a bit low with the Zhukov sitting almost in line with the picatinny rail.

Further range update. Another 300 down the tube today, changed out from a 1.5” mount to a 1.93” mount and it is way more natural to shoot. Nothing to report function wise, ran all ammo out of all mags on hand (lancer, pmag, metal lar). The change of extractor spring worked flawlessly.
