The same could be said the other way, no? That's kinda how it goes with forum politics. Especially when accusations get levelled, and so on... it just gets silly all around. So instead of all the pretend and posturing... some truth and fact?

well you and others know I'm new here . That dosen't mean with no experience . No matter , he talks like there's no one but him . Read his post the word "experience " is pretty much in ever post . That's trying to intimidate and bully . Now please think of a new 15 year old hunter coming on here and reading what he has said in my threads . Do you think he would feel like staying here ..It's a great forum but some members have to either button up or get off ...
My thoughts from new member
I don't want to argue or fight . I asked a few times to stay to topic and it never happened . Just saying

Given Ardents extensive experience, If a 15yr old was to come on here and read his posts he would likely gain an incredible amount of knowledge, and would also quite enjoy reading about his experiences and hunts.

Spruster you’re taking impressive umbrage in a hurry, in my experience a sensitivity says something. As for your question, that bear in the river is the rug in my office, these days even if I had a tag and a season I’d just continue to take pics. Gained a lot of respect for grizzlies the more time I spent with them. Got to hunt them with people from here too, with much more experience than myself.

Through that… experience… indeed you find some of the commentary strangely divested from reality and hard to ignore.

Why do/did you have an ATC?

That’s a straightforward one to answer, I was killing bears for a living, and having a gun you don’t ever put down is insurance. I had to fly a floatplane and run boats around the territory in the course of that, and a long gun is a PITA in those scenarios, and unfortunately I couldn’t do my job unarmed. Would be like showing up to hockey without a stick and hoping nobody passes to you. Fishing in the same place I don’t carry ATC, happily rafted down one of the old rivers from the top with rum and bear spray instead.

If anything carrying 10mm only was an indicator of my dropping level of concern the longer I spent in the grizzlies, in the beginning it was .375 H&H all day every day. Then I tried a short 12 gauge, then went ATC as a better understanding of the risks became clear. I wouldn’t go ATC only on a follow up of a wounded grizzly, but that’s the only time it feels insufficient.
