Mathew Hipwell on the list

Getting any parts that would keep a gun running is difficult (standard wear items), dealers and distributors couldn’t care less about after sales service parts for people who pump rounds down range. Extractors, ejectors, pin and spring kits, hard parts. Shouldn’t have to pick a platform based on availability of parts

Weak statement. He is part of the reason for the division. All gun owners were lock-step in solidarity for years, and the letter writing campaign helped to withdraw the amendments to C-21. This.....un-intelligent decision by the board of CSAAA sowed the seeds of division.

BTW, is Wolverine Supplies still a member of the CSAAA?

Average Canadian firearms owners on the same page??

IMO If this whole CSAAA crap storm has proved anything, it is that they have no idea what's going on, and will continue to rattle sabres and gripe then go back to their echo chambers.
A large group of casual firearms owners don't know if short barrel semi autos are restricted, and if you can have more than 5 rounds in a magazine. Our (firearms) culture is continuing a long and steady decline because people with the most presence and exposure online and at ranges would rather rabidly argue than coach and educate. I don't see anything changing until long after that does.

Yes, the CSAAA deal should be made public as to terms and where the money is going. At the end of the day the Feds have us all by the balls and we can't do a ton about it because we have to play by the rules and they don't.

This is a huge victory for the Liberals.

They made this deal with the CSAAA not for their abilities as an organization, but because of WHO the CSAAA is.

They do not bargain or legislate in good faith. This isn't even a deal that will help the dealers holding unsellable inventories in the long run because the next wave of prohibitions is just around the corner.

This was a deal about division.

100%

I do not feel sorry if these companies over-bought inventory and now are stuck with it.

Exactly. These dealers made record profits selling every crappy handgun they could get their hands on. Shilling is to buy now and stick it to the man. Now we learn they colluded to backstab us. To make things worse Hipwell somehow wants me to feel sorry for him. Embarassing.

The above is true.

But some stores can't afford to wait for jagmeets lips to get chapped. And the csaaa was doing what they were supposed to, which is support their industry. Everyone hear doesn't believe a word from the liberals, but they are instantly going to take this press release as the gospel? Read what the csaaa said, and see if it makes a bit more sense from a business point of view. Its not mandatory, its trying to maximize value for those who need it.

Well those that can wait will learn when the dollars dry up at the stores that complied with this Judas act. I think sitting on some inventory will be the least of some of these retailers problems as a boycott won’t be cheap and some of us have long memories when we are stabbed in the back.

The CSAAA has put the nails into the coffin.

Holy Fk, what a bunch of idiots. Whoever thought this was a good idea at that organization should resign. Heck, they should replace the president and put Marco M, in charge. Jesus!

CSAAA
"Since 1973 to 2023, the Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association (CSAAA) has provided leadership and a strong voice on behalf of the hunting and sport shooting industry in Canada, UNTIL THEY SIGNED THE DOTTED LINE TO HELP THE LIBERALS CONFISCATE FIREARMSE

That's all they will ever be known for like EVER.

Getting parts is where I developed a love hate relationship with the USA, love I can get parts in stock, hate that they sit in customs for a month.

I've said before most gun shops are like car dealerships without a parts dept.

This 100% they profited off us then waited for the government to buy the rest using our tax dollars. LMAO.

It seems a lot of people are falling victim to the division the government is creating. Divide and conquer works for the average voter and working for the gun owners too. This buy back program was going to go ahead with or without input from the firearms industry. Would everyone prefer CSAAA have stepped to the sidelines and watched the government assign members of PolySeSouvient to oversee a buyback program? The CSAAA were stuck between a rock and a hard place. It's members have volunteered much more time, effort and money than anyone on this list that is speaking ill of them.
Have canadian businesses been making profit from gun sales? Of course. That's why they started a business. Have they been taking losses. Likely, that's part of running a business too. The alternative is to close up shop and leave other canadians with one less place to shop for their toys. A firearms business fighting to stay in business is fighting against the government. Even if they have to take a reluctant step backwards. Boycotting these businesses is helping the government out.
I made a purchase the other day from SFOC to support Ryan Harriman. Once I get a bit of cash on hand, I'll be making a purchase from Wolverine to support Mathew Hipwell. Many thanks to both of them for the service they have provided.
Anyone upset with the performance of CSAAA, I hear there are a couple vacancies available. Show us how you can do better.

What a massive oversight by the CSAAA for letting the Liberals control the narrative. How naive were they to think they wouldn't use them like fools.

Absolutely agree, this is so obvious it's painful to watch. The CSAAA played right into the Liberals hands. They are gonna be all over the news soon talking about how the firearms retailers support the may 2020 OIC and are working with the Gov't to implement the buyback.

Well as past board member of a competitive shooting club and current executive board member of a range not even in the same Province as Wolverine Supplies I can say this, The Hipwell’s have been one of the biggest supporters of competitive and sport shooting across this country.
They’ve donated thousands upon thousands of dollars and merchandise to matches and club events across the country and in my opinion those trashing them are absolutely out to lunch.

Missing the context

It wasn't an overbuy, they bought according to the market and the the govt blindsided them with new rules.

If a tire store buys tires for the winter, and then the government bans selling winter tires, do you expect him to just sit on half his yearly throughput for the next decade, or should he have the option to get rid of that stock and then restock with something he can sell?

Comparing the situation of businesses with firearms inventory to those with tire inventory is weak at best. Bear in mind the Libs ultimate goal is to ban ALL firearms. To put it in simpler terms, it's extremely unlikely that all tires will be banned but extremely likely that all firearms will be banned.
If you're in the business of selling tires you'll probably be just fine.
However, if you're in the business of selling firearms it's extremely likely you could be out of business in a few short years. This is the reality in this country, unfortunately.

In this context, as a firearms business owner, you should realize there is an inherent and significant risk being in this business due to the fact that the government in power can ban all of your inventory.
If your business is your livelihood you will likely do whatever you can to curb uncontrollable losses such as theft.
I fully appreciate this since I am a business owner myself although not in firearms.

However the CSAAA handing the Liberal Govt a win (cause optically that's what this is) by entering into a contract to aid them with their confiscation plan is just plain wrong. I just cannot see any good for anyone coming out of this.
The Libs will use this to every bit for their political advantage. They have no morals so they will twist this to fit their perverted narrative and convince the greater un-educated public that the firearms community is now on board with their confiscation plan
It seems clear to me the CSAAA board did not think this through thoroughly (if there was anything to think about at all in any case).
I don't support this contract.

The only dividing action here was struck by the CSAAA board members. Please do not intimate that those who support you financially by buying product from your businesses are to blame for this great divide.
My STRONG recommendation is for the CSAAA to pull out while it can or else expect all involved, including the related businesses to be substantially negatively impacted.

Unfortunately , the CSAAA deal gave Trudeau's gun grab credibility , and the Liberals are running with it . With that being said , it is difficult for Dealers to sit on large inventories of firearms and parts that can't be sold ; especially when the government can probably track that inventory . Lots of private firearm owners are sitting on now prohibited firearms as well , that were previously non restricted ; so the government will have a lot more difficult time trying to track those guns down . At this point , supporting the CPC , and getting them into power in a couple of years is firearm owners only hope it seems .

i don't think it is appropriate for shooting clubs asking to purchase CSSA insurance or any whats ever support in whats ever form. NONE!

Can someone please provide some cliffs. I just bought a type 97 less than a week ago and I see it mentioned in this thread, is it moved to prohibited?
