I wanted to reload PPU brass for the Swiss 7.5x55 round. I have a #2 RCBS shell holder that is supposed to work, but the rim of the brass seems to be too thick of rit. If you reload PPU brass for that round that what shell holder do you use?

The #2 shell head holder is to small.

I use the Lee #3 and #11 in a pinch. Hornady equivalent is #30, they all fit into the standard shell head holder slots on presses. you need the holder without the mandrel feature for you primer feeders.

Weird - my No.2 fits PPU and RUAG brass no problem.

Could it be your shell holder?

Edit to add: Most all my shell holders are RCBS, with maybe the exception of this #2 - it doesn't have the RCBS roll mark - it might be a Hornady shell holder.

I use 44grs of IMR 4895 and a Win 150gr PPSP/ PRIVI brass /Fed 210 in a K-31 for .652" 3 shot 100 yard group OAL 2.893" in my gun. Great for deer.

I have a half dozen #2 shell head but upon inspection they are all Lee and Hornady types. RCBS type sh of the same dimension are #3.

Sorry OP and others for my post as it didn't answer your question.

The RCBS charts do indicate that their #2 shell head holder should fit the 7.5x55 case rim.

That's an excellent result and other than primers, I use pretty much the same load in my 1911 and K31. Both are in excellent condition but the 1911 will outshoot the K31.

I don't believe it's actually more accurate, just that the sight radius is longer and my eyes can focus properly on both the front/rear/target better.

My RCBS # 2 shell holder fits the PPU brass perfectly.

I never had problemes with the dimensions of RCBS shell holders, but I had issues with Lee SHs in several calibers.

Confirmed my #2 shell holder is a Hornady one.

Edit to add: as an aside while we're on the subject (sort of) - i just weighed a 100 piece lot of RUAG brass I just bought and over the 100 pieces there was only a 2.0 grain variation over 98 pieces (dropping the high and low) and 3.1 grains over all 100 pieces.
Looks to be fantastic brass - comparable to Lapua.

I went almost exclusively to the Lee Shell Head Holders because I've never run into an issue with them

It's to bad that even though all of the shh manufacturers make them to the same dimensions that they don't number them the same. This creates a lot of confusion, even with some of us that have been in this game for a long time.

You don't have to remember all the numbers, just use any readily available cross reference chart:

I'm cheating with a 6x Leupold and steel Swiss Arms side mount. Old age bad eyes.

I would appreciate your opinion regarding the RUAG brass. I have a lot of PPU 7.5x55 brass on hand. Is the accuracy potential of the K31 sufficient to warrant the cost of the RUAG brass. I use Lapua brass for my AI but not for any "service" rifle. So far I have not beat GP11 load accuracy with any of my reloads, even with Berger bullets.

I know the K31s are phenomenally accurate but the ergonomics of the rifle preclude it being a super accurate longer range rifle for my elderly arthritic neck.

Cheers!

I haven't fired any as of yet - just weighing it and finding the consistency very, very good - but I will probably write up a post once I have worked up a load through it.
I have a substantial GP11 stash that is my go to for most shooting, but I've geared up over time and have wanted to load for my K31s for some time.
Part of what has held me back is that GP11 shoots exceptionally well, especially for the prices I paid for it, and I'm reluctant to work up loads with PPU brass with the niggly feeling in the back of my brain telling me it can't be as good as the GP11
I've dabbled at converting the once fired GP11 cases to boxer, but have not found a suitable method that I care to put into practice.
I've also shot a fair amount of PPU and saved the brass for eventual loading. While decent, I think the RUAG is superior just from a consistency standpoint.

I'll likely ditch any notion of converting the GP11 brass and probably sell off my PPU brass with this RUAG stuff now available.
