Just back from the range with my CZ shadow ( gen 1 ).
Man do I like that pistol !!!! I have a few nice handguns, some more expensive, but this one remains my favorite to shoot.
Well built, heavy all steel, ergonomic, very accurate and all.
Just felt like sharing this, no pics, no targets , sorry guys and girls, just sharing my happiness of a great range day with a great firearm.

Nice. That is probably one of the most recommended guns for the reasons you state.

Yes guys shadows are great ! Partial, unfortunately in the current political state of affairs, it does not look like I will be able to buys a II. But lets still hope...

Classy. I've tried Shadow 2 recently at local gun range and now trying to justify buying it, since it felt so-so good

How would you buy it ?

Not me per se, tried it while visiting my parents(forgot to mention) :D Texas is kinda fun when it comes to shooting various stuff at ranges :D Most of my family firearms are there and I only get a chance to shoot whenever I visit...

OP, you have great taste in handguns. The Shadow 1, first generation sometimes gets a bad rap from the IPSC folks but they ride them hard.

For folks not engaged in the sport, they're just fine. Smooth as glass and extremely reliable with good ammo.

The competition shooters had breakage issues with them that were fixed with the Shadow 2.

Just make sure to keep some spare buffers on hand

The Grips on CZ pistols are one of the most comfortable that you can get. I prefer the feel of a CZ in my hand over a Beretta 92 and a Browning HP. just the way they sit in my hands. and accurate also. from what I have heard the Original CZ75 was designed to even handle hot machine gun ammo . the Czechs wanted a pistol that could shoot pretty well anything from what I have understood . same with the Browning HP . probably not good for the pistol though . accelerated wear.

Comp shooters also push the rounds bit hotter than some, plus they install very light springs, for lighter triggers, which causes the slides to bash back harder, and premature wear the gun.

Are you referring to breaking slide stops? Because that's all I've ever heard of going on the Shadow 1. I don't even want to say it for risk of jinxing, but after 100,000 rounds I'm still on my original slide stop.
The Shadow 2 had frame cracking issues when it first came out but I think those are resolved now.

OP: Great choice. One of the most common upgrades is to change the grips. The factory grips are excellent if you have big hands. If you have smaller hands, try one with the thin aluminum grips on it. I love mine! FYI...the Shadow 2 factory grips fit on the Shadow 1 just fine.

Yes about that slide stop possible breakage, I have bought a spare just in case but I think it is a shadow 2 slide stop. Will it fit on a gen 1 ?
Thanks
Gilbert

Shadow 1 getting a bad rap from IPSC folks? First I’d heard of that and I’m a Master in Production division. It’s a solid gun and I’ve never broken a slide stop, but I did carry spares with me. I know people who have, but the slide stops also break in the S2. Match the recoil spring with your ammo for a better lifespan.

I compete with a Shadow 2 now, but the 1st gen is my backup gun, and it still feels great. I love these guns.

Its been the opposite in my experience (ie ammo loaded less hot to get as close to the lower limit of power factor as possible), hence why there is minimum power factor in IPSC and chrono testing.
