I am considering purchase of this for quicker alternative 22 LR at extended ranges. Beyond 300-350 yards.
I am wondering if it's viable to emplace it in front of older Weaver MicroTrak.

Any advise....and a have long grooves on the barrel so an adapter for mounting the prism I think is doable?

If you have picatinny rail in front of your scope that is sturdy, then yes the NF 100moa prism is the ultimate solution for adding elevation and shooting farther.

I will point out that a good long range scope with 32+ mrad of elevation adjustment, mounted in a base/mount that has about 60moa of cant (aka angle) built into it, will get you to like 450 yards.

With .22LR, 100 MOA elevation at 100 yards allows zeroing to 500 yards without using holdover or reticle hash marks.

The Nightforce 100 MOA prism is not inexpensive (over $1000). While it's not clear that mounting a prism on the grooves present on a rimfire barrel is straightforward (they are there for mounting a tangent sight), it might be more practical to use a scope with a reticle designed to account for bullet drop, such as a mil dot or a Christmas tree-type reticle. Together internal scope elevation adjustment and a canted rail if needed will allow shooting at any distance that's reasonable.

I’m not convinced the 22LR in normal conditions is accurate enough at 500yds to matter. YouTube videos aside, try a few “groups” on a reasonable size target at 400yds. My StrikeEagle with Burris XTR rings and a 20MOA rail allows me to dial to 450yds. With reticle holdover over 500. Basically same price as a prism.

Looks a solution for when you ran out of other options, so a scope with lots of elevation first, canted rail second then you might start to think about it if it still isn't enough. Personally can't see getting to that point on a rimfire

I have selfish reasons for this purchase. It's going to be mounted on a circa 1936 German built competition Mauser.
I don't wish to even modify the factory bolt to clear a scope hence the high ring mounts. The metal has been refinished before I got it and I expended cash for a target select walnut stock.
The barrel grooves pretty much copied by Anschutz and stretch 2/3s the barrel as well upon the receiver.
This isn't your typical mounting grooves.

I might have to surrender to some small drill and tap mounting holes for the forward Pictinnay rail.
That hurts. However I could keep a 100 yard zero on the Microtrak then mount the prism easily for long range with minimal efforts and change.

If you want to keep the rifle pristine, what about a scope-mounted Charlie Tarac? If the scope takes a sunshade you could likely have TaccomHQ convert the sunshade to a mount.

Necro-post: looks like there's very affordable airsoft equipment to solve this issue.

Edit: Silly me! My custom stock has a extended pictinny rail for the Atlas. A wrap around bracket could be fabricated to mount the prism.

- Had to look it up... $1000

To get to 400 yards, you'll need what, 70moa?

If your rifle already has barrel scope-mount gooves, I'd talk with one of the Martini scope mount guys... and get something like this with a 30-40moa cant

Appreciate your input. However I have a dilemma. I once had on it a Shepherd (ick) long range 22 scope with auxiliary crosshairs to 500 yards. Yet the hi rings setup, only could make it work to 400 yards. Therefore a deficit of about -17 MOA elevation.
However, although I went custom stock, I refuse to change the bolt handle to better clear optics.
Hence I was hamstrung using highest rings for this scope.
This "stole" about 17ish MOA from elevation adjustments.
I chose the prism option and optics forward mount to keep the rifle metal and action true to its 1936 lineage this German Mauser competition rifle ole timey.

Yeah. Expensive.

Ballparking this prism & rifle setup should be good for 450 yards, zeroed out, no changes. 80ish MOA?

Guestimation so far with available data.....

Thank you again for your input.

Necro-post #2. Recently I got all my goodies mounted.
Yesterday I tried it for the first time at the range.
Accomplished a group 50 inches high at 100 yards. To accomplish this I removed my previous 100 yard zero. Bottomed out.
Soon going to try 300 & 400 yards.
Checked out two online tables: one stated my present zero is 300 yards spot on, the other said otherwise, about 390 yards.

Any input folks?

PS: it looks like an abortion because the prism is about 3/8 inch higher than the center of the scope.....yay.
That's on me because I wouldnt buy a Vudoo.

I recommend using a ballistic calculator and learning to use it. That is the only way to get an answer on your question about where you rounds are going to hit at a given distance.
