Rpd Lmg

You are referring to the newly manufactured ones being sold in the US? I've never heard of one in this country. It would be necessary for someone to submit one to the RCMP for evaluation.
It is probable that belts would have to be altered for 5 round segments.
Contact the registry in Ottawa and ask if a FRT entry has been created for them.

I'm tempted to grab a de-activated one and building a completely new semi-auto only receiver. Screw trying to get them over the border, build them here.

In Canada it would be nicer since we can open bolt but the RPD isn't select fire so you have to come up with a completely new trigger mechanism and the RPD leaves very little place for what that would take.

I'm not so sure about that, because the RPD first entered service in 1944.

The best way to make an automatic open bolt gun semi-auto only is to install a sear on the trigger system that blocks the bolt from cycling until the trigger is pulled again. It can't be too hard to set up.

Agree, I imagine it would be much simpler to come up with an open bolt semi than the closed bolt system the americans would have to use.

I tried to bring one in last year RCMP INSISTED it would be 5 rnd belt there was NO reasoning with them 5 rnds they said

so i dropped it as whats the point with 5 rnds?

edit PLUS the us gove will NOT allow the export as its NON-sporting

Non sporting? They obviously never thought of how versatile it would be for groundhogs and prairie dogs :50cal:

Well, even if it has to 5 rounds, I wouldn't mind. But I guess we'll have to wait a bit before any semi-auto RPDs are allowed make their way into Canada.

ya thats a whole other thing IF they used ANY of the orig reciever the RCMP class it right away as a converted auto

if its a newly made purpose built for semi auto thats ok

(or a FA reciever that NEVER had the FA parts installed is also ok provided thier is proof of that (the colt ro634 9mm smgs are one example)

as well as a few c7's in civie hands
