No AK is work 3 grand imho. It's designed to be a cheap stamped beater gun, build like a russian tractor for the price of a bottle of Vodka. A $3k AK is like spending $100k on a Civic with a nicer paint job :p

IMHO Valmet isnt some stamped beater. But its market value still isnt 3K yet. 1.5 was the going rate, now maybe 1750 or even 2k, but 3k and above is insanity for a non M78.

valmet

I have yet to see a 243 Valmet in Canada, and I have only seen a few in the USA.

The 223 Valmet Hunters & M78s are also not as common - although they do exist. The 308 is the most common.

In the USA Hunters sell from 1000-1500'ish. More than that and they just wait, unless there is a bunch of stuff with them.

1500 CAD, Tax & S&H +100, If you use Questar + 250, Pinning mags $25-50 Ea, Customs and GST +200, S&H to your door +75. Overall $2200+

I hear mixed reviews on weather the US State Dept is issuing Export Permits. I read something that said they were not any more - who knows, it could be a rumor just to increase the going price on Valmets.

Remember that "Valmet IS SAKO"..... AKs by their nature are an economical simple semiauto rifle. Most are cheeply stamped & not overly acurate. The Valmet & Galil lines are not cheep beeter guns..... They are by far the nicest AKs arround. They are prone to the defficiencies of AKs but due to their high QC the AK defficiencies are minimal.

We should be happy that we are allowed a Valmet and not some other POS AK.

IMHO

You clearly have never used a Izhmash, Molot, Arsenal or Radom AK. They are all very nice.

Here's some on the EE. IMO, Valmets are worth what people are willing to pay - similar to the H&K G36 (listed in the EE at 10G's). I'd pay 3G's for a Valmet Hunter in .223 in excellent condition.

I firmly believe in a free market and that a person should pay whatever he wants to for a product.

I also firmly believe that anyone that pays $3K or more for that rifle has more money than brains...:)

arent these generally 2-3 MOA guns? which makes a semi-auto .223 even more unappealing. you can pick up a mini-14 target stainless for $900 and get much better groups.

i guess the extra $4100 is for the cool factor of owning an AK
