BRNO Model 5 in Original box

Sharing some pics of my BRNO model 5 in its original box. I think these are a little harder to find than the Mod 1 or 2.

I was just looking at the pictures saying to myself are you kidding me as in WOW. very nice find . it looks pretty well mint. someone bought it many years ago maybe shot it once and put it in a closet . nice find.

I am happy you folks liked the rifle,

Some additional details of the Brno Model 5 (Ref: https://jggunsmith.wordpress.com/2019/09/30/a-bit-about-brno-22-rifles/

"Model 5 rifles are a hard to find variation. Approximately 33,000* were made with an estimated 15,000 going to the Middle East. Also called the ZKM 573."

"Model 5 rifles are a hard to find variation. Speculation is that they were developed in 1958 mostly as a training rifle for Middle Eastern countries."

Mine says 1957 on the action, and the barrel still says Model 1 on it. Since they started with parts they already had laying around, both make sense. Yours looks great!

And I just bought that beautiful rifle from Obenrndorf. Thank you sir for making me a very happy man :)

Some ruffled feathers Im sensing Gillis2. Well waterfowl season is open so its bound to happen I guess. At least it will be well treated!! Great scoop

Do you think it was just coincidental or maybe the reason for the original post? I understand your point as well.

looking at his trader rating, and what he has sold in the last year, and his posts of mostly pics

purely coincidentally got an offer, although not unexpected

he seems like just proud of his stuff and this was surplus to his other interests

am I psychic, no just a hunch

the buyer on the other hand

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

To all:
If I broke a rule, it was totally out of me not knowing that rule. Maybe not a valid excuse but it is the plain truth.
I apologize and cannot do more I guess. Very sorry for offending people.

Hi All: I was also not aware of this rule. My apologies. The intention was not to break any rule or offend anyone.

I never planned to sell this one but have a bunch of other old BRNO's that I actually shoot unlike this one, pure coincidence.

your history is ok and we believe you

when someone reaches out to you have not sold a rifle in 8 months it is obvious you are pk

keep us posted with neat pics my friend

Jefferson and other friends: As for me, I assure you I was not aware that I was not allowed to contact another member by PM to make an offer if the rifle was not put on the EE. Again, I am very sorry and believe me, I feel really bad. I have the utmost respect for my fellow CGN ers and it wont happen again.
Thank you

you are also one of the good guys

just had no time to look into your history

you contribute and get neat threads going

the

mmmmmmm was just having some fun
had to rush out and help a shirt tailed relative in a pickle

not to worry
if there was a problem I would have done it much differently

all is well, posting a neat rifle and not having the desire to own it because your interests are primarily elsewhere is ok

there was a guy who posted nest pics and tried to flog them at a profit but cannot remember his name

he has been roasted a few times but I think it continues

all is good and sorry if I was not clear from the beginning
later enjoy the new find

and let’s look for others to discuss and eventually trade

we are only caretakers for a short period of time

mostly we are just jealous

Nice looking rifle, I spent years drooling over pictures of Brno rifles in the catalogues my dad got in the mail. Never got one, I settled for the newer 452 CZ when I got ahead of my bills.

I never saw any solicitation in the posts here, and I didn't know it was against the rules to make a deal with another member without first posting an ad.

If the owner of the site required a percentage of ee sales I guess there would be an issue, but if not I think there is just a case of sour grapes here.

Why is there an issue here, grown ass men shouldn't be arguing over kids toys.

The rimfire forum has gone seriously downhill lately.

Enjoy your new rifle and don't apologize for buying it.

No one should be perturbed by the rifle changing hands. The original post simply showed an older rifle in great shape, accompanied by the original box. Guys post pictures of nice rifles all the time. Nothing was suggested in the OP about selling. Someone sees the rifle and privately asks the owner if he would sell it. He agrees to sell it. Is this nefarious? No.

It's like a guy with a beautiful car in a parking lot getting an offer to buy it. The fact that it's there will attract admirers. He doesn't need a for sale sign on the windshield to get one of them to make an offer. He's simply parked a nice car where it could seen while he was going to the store. He doesn't have to leave the car at home.

It's different when someone posts about a rifle in the general discussion section with a remark such as "I'm thinking of selling this." That has the intent of soliciting offers. The place for such a rifle is in the EE with a price.

I stand corrected. I wonder if the offer were made outside of CGN PMs -- i.e. by email or phone, for example -- if it remains a violation.
