Has anyone tried Springfield XD?

I don't know why people are trying to reinvent the wheel on polymer guns.

Just stick with the german/austrian/swiss makers. H&K, Walther, Glock, SiG, Steyr...they won't give you any problems for the most part. Which one you buy depends on your taste and budget.

Americans simply can't make polymer guns.

I have the XD40 (bought on the EE here) and would recommend it. I have well over 10,000 rounds through mine (mostly lead reloads) with no problems. That is not to say that this is the greatest handgun ever made but, mine has been excellent so far.

I have nothing against Glocks, I bought the XD because I could shoot lead through it. Both the XD and the Glock are great guns for the money. Personally I like the feel of the XD better. Shoot both (or at least handle both) and decide which YOU prefer. You can expect the same reliability, roughly the same accuracy and each will have something that you will like just a little better about one over the other. :D

don't forget the xd comes with:

grip safety
loaded chamber indicator
cocked indicator
holster & mag holder

glock comes bare and naked

QUOTE]

Grip safety- Glock doesn't come with one because they
don't feel the need to include a solution to a nonexistent problem.

Loaded chamber indicator-- The extractor. It has a raised rib that
can be felt with the trigger finger when the chamber is loaded.
Not felt when it is not loaded.

Cocked indicator-- If the trigger is in the forward position. . . . it's cocked.

Holster & Mag holder-- Nope, Glock doesn't supply those

yup RNichols is your support center also known to us civvies as FN Sports. and while they may bring in some some stuff, if you need anything from them, you'll get it in about a year, maybe 2. There's a reason the M&P is the fasting growing pistol in the pistol market right now, and the XD is stagnant, if not falling backwards.
But hey if you got one that works, good for you. Like I said, I've personally watched 9's and .40's #### the bed at least a dozen times. those owners now own Glocks, Sigs and Smiths.

I'm a 1911 and Glock guy. They have proven themselves to me over and over again and just plain and simply work best for me.( yes I have or have in the past owned Sigs,HK,CZ ,92's ) But the XD is quickly making its way into that
1911 and Glock level.BEFORE SOME GUYS START FLAMING about how can I compare The XD to their Favs this is what works best for me.I find the Sig
sits too high in the hand for me and Hk just dont trip the trigger,Although I am waiting to try the HK45.92's Are just too thick and too wide for me.

The xd is actually made in Croatia, not the US. So your point is moot.

Croatian design, American branding. That's still American.

Read up on the gun, it uses well proven design ideas from Glock (polymer frame) Sig (barrel and take down) as well as the 1911 (grip safety). Also for you information the gun was already on the market before Springfield picked it up. Oh yeah, then try owning one.

I have nothing but good things to say about my XD9. Fits a variety of hand sizes comfortably (my little ones and the other half's really big ones), I've never had any jams, strips easily, accurate right outa the box.

Don't take our word for it. Next time you are at the range look around and ask if you can shoot one.

I think you will like it.

Like I said before, it shoots much nicer then a glock.

I shoots much nicer than a glock.

Thats in your opinion. I found the opposite to be true, as have many people. Best advice is to try a bunch of polymer guns out (HK, XD, Glock) and then make your own mind up.

That is very true. I find I like xd better then glock, but just like beauty, the fit of the handgun to your hand is completely individual.
Try it and see.

I have a XD45 ACP. Love it. I have fired 5000 rounds and unknown before I bought it used. Not many indications to suggest that it was shot a lot before I bought it. No problems, except with feeding SWC lead bullets. I use RNFP and no problems. Pistol is more accurate than I can shoot. The target in my avatar is 10 rounds from my XD45 @ 25 yards offhand. Shoots dirty or clean. I know nothing about Glocks other than I don't like their trigger or how they look. I have only put 200 rounds through a Glock.
