Light weight rifles??

Yup, unless you can find a model seven for under 500 then finish a wildcat composites stock blank yourself.

That’ll be a pretty rough M7 for that price..

I've literally never seen one that cheap. 700s rarely get that cheap and the 7 usually demands a premium over a similar 700 from what I've seen. That's Savage Axis prices these days...

My Husqvarna 1600 is 5 pounds 14 ounces, cost 495$

Care to give more details? Is that with the factory barrel? What caliber?

Only other option I can think of is the previous model Savage Lightweight, but those have been out of production for a few years now and I haven't seen many on the EE recently (although I haven't been looking for em either) so honestly I'm not even sure those would fit the budget these days.

Stevens 200 would/could be another needle in a hay stack find. They were stupidly priced too back in the day. The EE was full of them yrs ago. Weren’t they in the 7lb’ish range sans optics?

I’ve bought two for 500 and under.

Another good option would be a husky 1600 small ring in a wildcat. No shortage of those around these days

Don't know their weight (I suspect around the 7# range) but GreatNorthGunCo has a few 1600's in different calibres for around the $500 price point. One under $400 if you don't mind a stock repair.

A Tikka SL in a Wildcat will get you to 5.5 pounds. Maybe a bit under, depending on caliber, recoil pad, etc.

Hard to do for $1000 tho, even with a used donor rifle. Along with almost everything else- Tikkas have gone up, and so have Wildcat blanks.

There are a bunch of dealers offering the Savage 110 Lightweight Storm for under $1000. Those weigh in at around 5.5 pounds. I'd take a 110 over a Ruger American or used rifle of unknown quality.

Agreed
A LW/UL rig usually has some $$ behind it to get to the end result.

BRNO k1's are light if you can find one.

Tikka with Tupperware, used model 7 husky 1640 from tradex are all good options. Used Tikkas and model 7 can go cheap from smaller gunstores with no online presence
