i have all of those symptoms but it only took a day for them to kick in. mentally, i feel good but when i try to walk around or something simple like that my gut starts to feel very strange and i can feel whatever is in me heading south:eek: 4 rolls of TP since tuesday night...ouch? :redface:

the sad part is i have one of those portable water filter things as well as a case of water here at home. i always forget food/water because im so concerned about remembering all my hunting gear:rolleyes:

im just going to stick it out for a couple more days before heading to the clinic as i dont want to have an "accident" while im waiting as it comes without warning sometimes:redface:

the best way i can explain it is it feels like the worst hangover ive ever had x 5. hmmm...maybe a 26er of whiskey will fix me up :D
 
Just go now, mate, and go to ER not a doctor. If you tell them you have to crap every minute, they'll take you in. These things are better treated early.

girlfriend took her laptop with her today:D

hell i dont think id be able to make it at the ER anyways. MOST of the time i have a few second warning that shes a comin but a few times theres been no warning:redface: 22 and ####ting myself...nice:(

now the question is this....

do i drink the same water again to see if my body has become immune to whatever is in the water? :D:p
 
I have gotten beaver fever 3 times. Im a slow learner. I always boiled and filtered, or purified my water. I have gotten into the bad habit of not keeping my mouth shut when swimming in creeks etc.

There are some worse things than beaver fever you can get from unhealthy water. I haven't drank from a stream or lake since my buddy got chriptosporidia (sp?) from drinking from a local water source more than 15 years ago. And no, that double shot of CR did not "kill whatever might be in there."
Another yummy thing in open or shallow water sources is fecal chloroforms(sp?). Sounds nice huh?
 
Don't drink the water

One of my brothers contracted beaver fever and had a hard time getting rid of it because he didn’t seek medical help sooner. As others have said CH312, go see the Doc as soon as you can pucker up long enough.
As a side comment, years ago I was spring bear hunting a tributary to the Peace River here in Alberta and I watched a mule deer walk a half a mile down from the top of a ridge, stand in the middle of the creek, pee and turn around and walk all the way back up to the top. Didn’t take a drink, just peed. It’s been a rare day since then that I have bent down and sucked up creek water.
 
See your Dr. . A simple stool sample for Giardia can be dropped ( ;)) at the lab. Treatment is an antibiotic called flagyl (metronidazole) 250mg 4 times a day for a week or so. bad news is you can't drink booze while you take it.....makes you puke reaaaalllly good if you do.:D
 
The US Food and Drug Administration, observing that giardiasis is more prevalent in children than adults, suggests that many individuals seem to have a lasting immunity after infection. [35] Furthermore, citizens of cities and countries where the parasite is numerous clearly seem to have few if any problems with their own water, which also points to an acquired immunity.

We kayak the whitewater of Alberta's eastern slopes of the rockies and drink from the creeks and rivers we paddle. Been doing this for 20 years and not I nor any member of our group has been ill as a result. We paddle with 60 yr olds and 15 yr olds and everything in between. Seems to speak for immunity 'cause we see the beavers.....

Giardia nearly always goes away on its own. With the proliferation of antibiotic resistant bacteria lately, I'd rather sit and #### for a few more days than kill off all of the good bacteria in my digestive tract and risk something nastier taking hold. Besides the whole "no booze" thing just took that treatment out of the equation.:D
 
beaver fever! I had that when i was younger but ive been married 30 years
so the simptoms arnt mso bad now

C/H 312; I'll bet you were drinking from one of the springs that feed the swamp that starts Dubiney (spelling?) creek . Both have had beaver in them for a couple years now.I used to drink from them to but not now:eek:.Been there done that :( . Get yourself to the Doc. as it will keep coming back.
