I currently use an RCBS 10/10 beam scale for Powder measureing and have been useing it now for 20 years , and I am thinking of modernizing to a
** RCBS Charge Master Electronic Scale Combo **
Looking for input from anyone with experience useing this system , Is it worth the Coin ?? Does it measure Accuratly ?? Does it reduce reloading time ??
Or is it just a High Tech Toy ?? , I load .338 Mag / .300 Win Mag / .3006 / .308 / 7MM Mag / .257 Weatherby Mag.

Buy it and don't look back. It's one of the best relaoding tools you'll have at your disposal and you won't regret the purchase one bit. FWIW, order one out of the US. Wholesale (?) Sports and others basically want +$200 more to buy from them. I bought mine from Natchez in Tennesee.

Mine measures very accurately and I haven't had one problem with it yet. Others report some inconsistency metering and weighing certain powders such as H4831 but it flowed flawlessly through mine.

I wish I would have bought one out of the starting gate. Oh well, i'll sell all the others at the next gunshow.

Yes it is worth the price (get one on special), yes it does measure accurately (use of an in-line power source helps), no it does not make reloading quicker (quite the converse).

Although I have a Harrell premium Culver powder thrower, I still use the Chargemaster 1500 exclusively.

I respectfully yet wholeheartedly disagree. It has made my workflow much, much quicker.

The difference being that before, I'd weigh a charge, trickle it up, then set that case on a loading tray, repeat, etc, -and go seat bullets once that tray was full. Done this way, the chargemaster takes longer to weigh than it took me with a scale.

Now I seat each bullet one at a time while the chargemaster is throwing the *next* charge, instead of throwing a whole bunch of charges and then seating them all en masse. No worries about upsetting the chargemaster -my bench is quite stable, and seating doesn't require much pressure anyhow. It works out pretty much so that there's my next charge sitting there waiting for me a few seconds after I seat the last one.

Yes in that context it is quicker, however it is much slower than simply throwing the charge with a powder thrower.
 
Even so, I'd disagree. For most cartridges, I find it take me longer to seat the next round than to dispense a charge; though I take my time when seating - I find I get lower runout if I seat halfway, rotate 180, and finish seating
 
Guy I know who used one, but when he throws a large charge he dumps a some into the tray with a dipper to help speed up the process. If he works it that way he can keep moving at a pretty good pace.
 
the 6BR website did an excellent comparison of a few similar machines and the RCBS was the clear winner. I second the suggestion that you check US pricing because I have seen them for as low as $239 from the bigger US sites and yet there is one for sale on the shelf locally in Kamloops for $600.

I've been using mine for 18 months and there is NO going back for me. While you can argue it may not throw as quickly as someone on a roll, it does allow you to multi-task and seat while a charge is dispensing.

Thank's for all the Input Guy's , I have been shoping around on the Net and made a few local calls as well . I have been given Prices from $650.00 to $259.00 , Can't believe the Price difference :confused: I like to Shop locally and support the local gun Shop but buying online is way cheaper even with the shipping cost :sniper:
 
I got mine from Natchez in the US, ~$300 shipped to the door. You have to call them, they will take CDN orders but not on line.

Best investment I ever made.. while it is weighing a charge I am seating, checking COL, and concentricity.

I set this up first, as my reloading room is not a full time operation. While I am setting up everything else, I just keep letting it throw charges. By the time I am ready to start seating I usually have 10 waiting, I just keep up the rhythm. It is the most efficient and accurate reloading I have ever done!
