LF Recipe for 303 British, Speer .311 180 gr bullet and Ginex primers

WHen you mean low, do you mean the the power grain count to start?

"powder grain count?" WTF does that mean?

"grain" is a measure of weight, like ounce or pound. You wouldn't ask, "what is the pound count" would you?

The correct wordage is, "do you mean the charge or weight of powder to start?" And the answer is, "yes".

No one said I made sense all the time, and I've often found that when new to something I am more often wrong than right. ;-)

I will endeavor to do better so as not to raise your salt level in the future. ;-)

No-one said you were special. LOADS of people use "grain" in place of weight. Thats why it bugs me.

Hydrostatic shock and hydrostatic shock wave are two different things. Pretty sure I am not missing something.

Hydrostatic pressure is pressure exerted ( at the bottom typically... 0.00981 x weight of fluid in kg/m3 x depth in Meters)from a column of fluid.
Dynamic is moving, static is not moving.
It is silly to argue, but the term makes about as much sense as 'unthaw'.
I don't have a term that could replace it off hand...not one that everyone else would understand as well as they ( well... think they do)understand that term.
If it is hydro'static' it's not moving, can't very well be shock...let alone a wave from a static column of fluid.
My OCD moment...ta-da

I don't disagree with your logic, but there is a lot of proper scientific research and documentation that refers to it as hydrostatic shock. Hydrodynamic Shock would probably be a more correct term but I've never heard it referred to as that.

You lads need to bone up on Bernoulli's equation.

Why is that...it isn't the same as Hydrostatic IMO? Perhaps it better describes 'upstream / downstream' pressures.
That has nothing to do with Hydrostatic pressure that I can tell. Hydrostatic isn't upstream / downstream... it is high / lower TVD to increase / decrease.
I'm listening if you have an intelligent retort. Politely of course. I might learn something.

I looked it up and it makes my head hurt.

It has to do with pressure and velocity, where increased velocity reduces pressure to keep the system (energy maybe) constant. It is part of how airplanes fly. Not entirely certain how it governs a pressure wave transiting a material but I will defer to the more learned in that topic. ;) That and the term doesn't overly bother me. :)

I'm not an Engineer...just oil trash. But HP...it has been pounded into my head for about 35 years now.
So there is that, staying humble here.

Years ago I worked with a bunch of engineers and every once in a while you'd hear the dumbest stuff come out of someone's mouth. Even the most intelligent people speak without thinking sometimes.

Well the good news is, my primers arrived in time before my trip, so that's one less variable addressed. A lot of shipping fuss over such a small box. LOL
