PAL Wait Time

That’s very promising, I’ve been worried seeing a lot of folks in Ontario waiting 4+ months.

How long after your course did you get your results? I did my course Dec. 9th. Already got most of the online application filled out so it’s ready to go when I get my results in the mail.

Nov 18: PAL course completed

Nov 19: RPAL course completed

Nov 20: Applied for PAL & RPAL online, all references signed.

Dec 18: Called RCMP after 28 days and they said my application is approved and is waiting to be printed.

Dec 22: Application status changed to - Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued.

Jan 2: Received license in the mail.

43 days including the holidays, I hope you all have a smooth and quick process as well!

The endless wait for my PAL

Located in Ontario

October 15th 2022 PAL course completed

October 20th 2022 Mailed application

Jan 10th 2023 application received by RCMP

March 8th 2023 called in for an update, they had my name spelled wrong in their systems, corrected it.

June 14th 2023 called for an update, transferred to CFO no answer

August 17th 2023 called for an update, transferred to CFO no answer

October 16th 2023 called for an update, was told " an officer has it and is doing further investigation, estimated backlog of 12 months"

November 10th 2023 spoke to my MP out of frustration with the entire process, MP contacted them and told me they told him it was an 18 month back log now.

Posted January 4th 2024, still no PAL still no information on why this is taking as long as it is. 6 days away from the 1 year anniversary of them getting my application though!

That's absolutely ridiculous

Ya I even took the course with a few friends, every one of them got theirs within 3 months. I was told there is only one person for the entire province of ontario that can do the " investigation" into each persons background. What really annoyed me is this Mythical "backlog" as they officially state there is NO backlog.. Yet, I was told theres a 12 month one and my MP was told there is an 18 month one. There needs to be some better way to hold the RCMP accountable for their actions.

They have more than 1 person who deals with "investigations". Ontario CFO "investigated" my background last year and I've dealt with two of them personally. I've dealt with ones based out of Aurora. Communication on their part was actually pretty good. I was always able to get a reply from them within 24-48 hours but my thing wasnt about new PAL application and I did have their cell numbers if I needed to get in contact with them. Constable who I mostly dealt with is actually pretty chill guy. I wish there were more government officials like him.

At this point I cant even get through to a Human being and dont even know whats going on, not a single reference has been called, they've never called me either. I was told they would call from restricted numbers if they needed to so ive been picking all those up unfortunately lmao .

When I do try to call the CFO now, it picks up and all I get is the dialup tone from the late 90-00s before it hangs up

My application from BC has been in initial review since August 28th, 2023.

Is it okay to e-mail the CFO about my application status to determine if they need further information, or would that make things worse?

Politely ask if you can get a status update from the agent working on your file. Mine was issued shortly after doing just that.

Same here, initial review since July 17th 2023 in BC. Almost 6months and no news.
I emailed the CFO today, I’m just waiting for a response now.

Yeah.. checking in from BC as well.

Initial review March 19th 2023. Coming up on a 10 month wait without any further contact.

I've tried calling in three times now, July/Sept/Nov. Each time told that there's a backlog and to just keep waiting...

Has anyone else had delays getting their official CFSC results in order to submit their PAL application?

I don’t really get what bureaucratic nonsense is going on here. I took my course Dec 9th, was told I passed and to expect my official results/certificate from the FSESO within 4 weeks. After 6 weeks I called the FSESO and they said to call them back after 8 weeks if I still haven’t got my results.

I don’t understand why this takes so long? It looks like in other provinces you get the paperwork you need to submit your appplication immediately after the course.

My Timeline for Ontario
Nov 28 and 29: completed CFSC and CRFSC
Dec 22: Course certificate received
Dec 25: Online application submitted
Dec 27: References approved
Jan 27: Application processed and license issued. It might have been issued couple days back but I checked it today.

MyCFP portal still shows application successfully submitted but CFP eservices shows updated status.

I did the safety course at the end of December, and applied online on the 30th. Looking at the portal, it still says "application successfully submitted." and hasn't changed at all.

I called in to check and see if my application was ok, or if I needed to supply additional or missing information. I was told that it was in "final review" but they were still working on a backlog from September.

I don't mind waiting, but, there seems to be a lot of inconsistent messages from the CFO in AB
