Steyr SSG 69 Sport/Match/UIT stuff

I love my Steyr. I thought that the SSG 69 chamber was chrome lined, but since there is no mention in the catalog material, I guess I was mistaken.
Great shooters regardless.

I came across an SSG 69 about 15yrs ago at the Eganville gun show for what was a great price ($1100?). I regret not buying it to this day, but I had recently bought a house and had a young child.

Just about anything Steyr Mannlicher SSG 69 rifle related is captivating. The SSG 69 P1 and P11 rifles are scarce and they will be more scarse as time goes by. It looks like that SSG 69 rifles owners do not sell theirs very often.

For me, the Steyr Mannlicher SSG 69 Target-Rifle Model Match rifle is the most elusive in Kanuckistan - the one with the guaranteed 7cm groups at 300 meters with appropriate factory ammunition. I don't think that there are that many shooters able to be as accurate as the rifle is precise, offhand with metallic sights (aperture), at 300 meters. Nowadays, everybody shoots from the bench and everybody is a formidable marksman. Yeah, sure.

Thank you, Dosing !

P.S. Dosing, may I ask you, in the most secretive way, where - the hell - did you find your Steyr Mannlicher SSG 69 Target-Rifle Model Match rifle ?

Had a SSG PII years ago. Trigger guard cracked. Plastic stock cold to the touch in freezing weather, other than that shot lights out. Had 2 5rds rotary and a 10 rd mag when I sold it. Kelly Online had a nice SSG PIV 16” with a threaded break a few years back for the Steyr aficionados.

Yes, the Steyr Mannlicher SSG 69 mag well/trigger guards used to crack at an alarming rate. For some years now, Steyr Mannlicher has been selling "improved" mag well/trigger guards with metal inserts (steel ?) around the screw holes. Are they really improved ? I don't know but up to now, they (the "improved" ones) have not cracked. At least, not yet.

And, the magazine latch retainer(s) on the sides of the mag like to crack in cold weather. The good news is that there are 2 of them. So if one breaks, the mag is still usable. Im pretty sure spares are still available.

I think my magazine latch broke while in the safe. Do you mean spare magazines are available or the plastic latch part?

zufriedenheit durch präzisiontechnische und qualität might have been a better motto considering the problems.

Another of those rear-locking actions. Inspired by the Remington 788?

AFAIK, you have to buy the whole mag:(
I've seen them for sale. Maybe leftover old stock though.
I always thought that Steyr (or an aftermarket company) should have redone that plastic mag part in aluminum or metal instead of plastic

SSG 69 Sport and SSG04A1 for comparison

New trigger guards, as there has been some discussion, they are easy enough to obtain

Or, you can switch to aluminum, or even the AICS conversion systems out there

Classic 80s tactical p0rn, the SSG 69 Sport and Match, a Krico 600 and a Viking SOS 12ga.

Today you can still buy SSG69 parts, as well as aluminum chassis, mag conversion kits etc, a lot of modern upgrades if you want.

Depends on what you consider the correct scope. If you want a Kahles fixed power you could try the EE with a WTB, otherwise its online.
