All Weather 223 Deer Rifle

If you were in the market for a rifle to meet the following criteria, what would it be?

Non negotiable:

- chambered in 223
- stainless, synthetic (preferably carbon or fibreglass)
- for use in wild coast wet sands jungle for hunting pint sized blacktails

Bonus points:

- mini action
- irons
- readily available pic rails
- short barrel
- ultralight
-1:7 twist

What would your choice be?

tikka T3 stainless in a 8 twist, short of the .223 coming in a 8 twist readily available and under a time crunch, the same rifle in a 22-250, either one shooting 70-80 grain bullets behind the ear of the unexpecting will keep ones freezer full over winter

I’m partial to one of the 6mm or 25 cal cartridges myself. I hunted those Sitka blacktails once…. And there are some mighty big black bears in the neighborhood. I think 243 Howa would be my choice, with a nice BC stock. I don’t know if they make a stainless one, but an oily rag does wonders to a blued rifle.

Last time I brought 2 blued rifles, one got some rust, one did not. Stainless looks cool. Hoping to spend more time in salt spray this time and want a 223.

Howa Mini in .223 with an 1 in 8 twist barrel will suit most of your needs. Finding one in stainless that is actually in stock may take some detective work.

Tikka has always been good to me. I would go that way before Howa. A carbon barrel and HNT26 folding chassis with a light ish 2-10 optic.

I’d look at the CZ600 ergo.
As for the previous poster who mentioned it is not Stainless
I would argue that Bobox dlc coating is actually a step above stainless in corrosion resistance.
