Saw this on Facebook and went to the Eley website to confirm.

New ammo called Eley Ultra Extreme Long Range. Looks like it’s designed for the longer range applications.

Have a look. https://eley.co.uk/ultra_extreme_long_range_round/

As much as I like the idea I would prefer if ammunition manufacturers just made sure we had stock of the stuff that already exists.

I read on Facebook they plan to deliver to the use by June not sure what that means for Canada though.

Cheers,
B

Arriving hopefully sooner than the new Lapua variants that still aren’t available here yet. Only been a year and a half or more since its introduction!! Always so exciting when new flavours come out ,but, twice as disappointing when it isn’t available.

Eley expects availability in the second quarter of this year.

Shooters shouldn't get too excited. Like RWS and Lapua, each of which have "long range" varieties, Eley understands that there is a market for .22LR ammo with the words "Long Range" in the name. It will be a little faster than standard Eley .22LR rifle ammo, as are the Lapua and RWS long range offerings. Also like the other makes of long range ammo, indeed all .22LR match ammo, this Eley will vary from one lot to the next, with some being better or worse.

That is my expectation. I don’t care what it’s called, I want less flyers in a 10-30 shot string.

It has a very pretty box and says "extreme" and "long range"... dude guys, I'm sold this is the bestest ammo ever made, yo!

*edit* OMG It even says ULTRA!!!

How dare you? It says on the packaging its ULTRA and LONG RANGE, plus it even shows its EXTREME. Gottah be the end all beeee all. Shows it rite there on the label PAW.

There you go, I posted just recently that a longer range round was what Eley was lacking. And since it's them, I'm hoping it will become relatively easy to obtain over brands like SK.

It's so life affirming being here and seeing a total lack of sarcasm on the part of posters. It's fun being surrounded by people who haven't become jaded and bitter, but who still have a boundless enthusiasm for new and revolutionary things.

Looks interesting but if it’s just a 40 grn round nose bullet at normal velocity, can’t see what would make it a special long range round compared to other ammo available, just saying.

Did someone say they're normal velocity? Anyway, I would say it's all about the powder used and the minute tolerances, which includes consistency from round to round. Plus what your rifle thinks.

We are talking about Eley here. They have a certain hard won reputation.

When I started out at one club, there was a grizzled old pro who told me about being invited on a tour of the Eley factory in England and how impressively extreme their quality control is. Maybe that stuck with me overmuch but faith no doubt improves performance.

Anyway, I hate these guys who can see the bullet in flight but for that Eley is indeed the silver bullet...

The video maker says the Eley EPS are considered by Eley as the "white bullet line" and that it's "very easy" for him to see it on the way to 400 yard targets.

However Eley uses the term, the EPS bullets are indeed a little lighter in colour than the darker round nose Eley bullets. The two different bullets use different lube but are both made of lead and antinomy. It's doubtful that minor variations in the shade of grey makes a .22LR bullet very much easier to see. In any case when .22LR match bullets are seen its typically for brief moments.

On a more important note, the video says that the higher the grade, the more accurate the ammo. Shooters should understand that grade and accuracy performance don't necessarily go hand-in-hand. Some lots of Tenex can shoot worse than some lots of Match or Team over many barrels. This is true for Lapua ammos as well.
