Mdt field

Once you have a rigid chassis to mount the reciever, the rest is marketing.

From an accuracy stand point, free float and rigid is the best you'll get regardless if it offers a hunter profile, lightweight, or unlimited option accessories.

So is it worth $320 to YOU?

I have three XRS's, all on "Bench" and PRS style rifles.
If I had the option of the XRS bedding block and vertical grip for a hunting weight rig ,I would go for it.
But I'm all outta hunting R700's

320 does buy 5 boxes of ammo.

I think the Question is how it compares to the Magpul 700 Hunter which is direct competition IMO. The MDT is a fair bit less expensive than the MP and includes bottom metal. Also has a vertical grip which I would much prefer.

IMO, they shud have stuck with a flat recoil pad tho.
Also not sure why the recoil pad and spacer profile isn't conformed to the stock shape?
And the magazine release is hidden behind the trigger guard. seems odd but maybe ok for huntings applications.

I bought one the day they were released pretty decent stock for the money. A little heavier than I like but for less than the cost of a bottom metal a good purchase.

How far does the aluminum go forward? How much flex?
I.e.: is it a plastic fore-end or do the swivel studs connect to the internal chassis.
It would be nice to see a picture of the aluminum core without the plastic overmold.

The video didn’t really show what I was after so I bought one for a Ruger anyway; it showed up today.
Still not installed but initial impressions:
-it looks very well made, everything including the box and packaging looks top notch.
-considering the cost I also think it offers a lot of value.
-the aluminum insert is molded perfectly to the polymer stock.
-the aluminum insert ends where the forend begins.
-the forend is all plastic but has a lot of bracing, at this time it seems exceedingly rigid for a plastic stock (I’ve had a bunch, including GRS and this is by far the most rigid for an all plastic forend).
-very adjustable for LOP and cheek riser height.
-the grip/palm swell seems set up for large hands, I never saw optional grips but I’d be surprised if they aren’t in the works (I’d buy a different one).
-the trigger guard is plastic, the mag release feels like metal (still in the bag - it never came installed). The trigger guard/mag release is also held on with several small screws and needs to be removed to pull the action from the stock (doesn’t look like a big deal and the rifle design mandates this solution).

At this point I’m very happy, if it installs as easily as I expect and performs as their other products have it’ll be money well spent.
So much nicer than that ugly green factory stock…

I agree, IMO I think 3-5 is a good number. My local store didn't order a magazine when they ordered the stock and all they had was a 10 round 308 size mag, it's not even MDT.

Stock has no flex, at least mine doesn't. You'd have to try really hard anyways.

My 6.5CM Ruger with a three round magazine, works for me but the mag latch hangs down, it would be nice if there was a cleaner option.
No flexing on mine, not that I notice anyway.

It does look like a solid chassis. You can tell that the material looks a bit "cheaper" than the XRT. As someone else mentioned, is it worth it to you to drop $320 extra for it?

Sounds like people on here are genuinely happy with the Field Stock though! I have an LSS Gen2 and its solid (just to speak on MDT as a chassis manufacturer).
