All-New: Type 81M

I personally feel for all the Issues and really
for the $$$ and time one would expect a some what better product over-all.. I know where it is made but that should not be the Customers problem in general.
S hite happens , should at least be a $$ back Guarantee with-out re-stocking fee.

Agree. I would assert that these are mass produced with low quality QC and are HUGELY inflated in price by the time the Canadian consumers get them. I doubt it costs the Chinese $200 CAD to produce one of these. They probably make at least 2x-3x selling to TI, who (I am speculating here) probably also make a massive profit even after shipping, importing, paying payroll etc.

I can also assert with reasonable confidence that TI gets fully reimbursed for any that are outside of “acceptable spec”. The T81 is a money tree for them because of the cheap cost to produce, and the sheer demand for cool looking new NR Semi platforms.

We say it’s NR semi platforms that will cycle…but proof is in the pudding. We will buy anything that’s NR and “tactical”. 180 clones were plagued with issues, and sold very very well. Raven was plagued with issues for Gen 1 and was also almost always sold out or on a delay. Even with the new BCG, they can’t keep the cerakote from flaking for whatever reason…. The T81 are also plagued with defects and are certainly rubbish compared to a Russian SKS, and yet we are willing to pay 2-3x the price.

Until we stop buying junky overpriced products, we can’t complain that all we have is junky overpriced products.

End of rant. Please note that I think the T81 is a super cool product, as is the Raven. I still think both are overpriced by about double when you consider what you get.

Also, what evidence do you have that a credit card company would pull a card once they find out that someone legally purchased a firearm?

Pretty obvious I say. Even saved 0.0001 cents on the paint and a dull cutting wheel is no concern, lol.

Do these type rifles usually go up in price over the long run? I don't really pay attention to the type 81 market prior to this batch.

Yes. TI is the only Canadian importer, so when the supply of retail availability goes to zero, the price naturally rises. It probably won’t be as extreme as previous shipments, but I would say it’s basically impossible to lose money on it short term. If another company started making something better for the same money or less, different story. But right now this is the closest thing we can get to AK aesthetic. So it’s hot.

I would say that the underfolders will go up a lot once sold out. They are the most attractive ones and reassemble the AK more than the M fixed stock - which I think is only expensive right now due to the limited supply.
