Hey, was just looking at them. How does the straight pull feel? I've been trying to simulate the action, wondering if it's really awkward or just uncomfortable from not used to it. I like the fact I can switch stuff off of it with all the AR parts. But I'm so used to bolt action. I am also left handed so I can switch the pull to left hand also which is a plus. I just want to know how quick can you cycle a straight pull,

Its quicker and more fluid than a traditional bolt action. And unlike most traditional bolt actions, you can swap which side the charging handle is on.

It's very fast to operate the bolt. Pull back quickly and let it slam. I find it's great on the bench because you barely need to move position. But like everyone says, you really miss the semi action because its what a guy is used to. Don't bother with 6.5 Grendel though, it's way too sticky ejecting to be any fun.

I found that I did not miss the semiauto as much as I thought I would.
- will always be non restricted
- keeps the ammo consumption down a bit
- does make you think a little bit more about each shot
- its kind of like stick shift vs automatic transmission. Automatic is great in the city when there is lots of traffic but ultimately IMHO stick shift is more fum

Recently picked one up. Only one trip to the range, so far. Had a few light strikes, but I think I was being too gentle with it.
I am a bolt action guy, but am liking it so far… definitely needs a trigger upgrade !!

Upgraded trigger will be a treat 4 sure. As for the light strikes, and sending the bolt home. Interesting feature the bolt handle.is also the forward assist.

I have Ruger parts on a gen 1. It works just fine. I don't remember any break in period, I guess because the bolt and chamber were already worked in from semi auto on a Ruger AR. The ergonomics are pretty easy to get used to. It's the same basic motion as racking a 10/22 or semi auto shotgun. I'd still much rather go back to the AR but the Renegade is a good gun.

Interesting, I've been planning on putting together a Grendel...

I've tried multiple grendel barrels on Renegade and LPC straight pulls. Every single one is sticky AF, and I saw no improvement even after a couple hundred rounds. If you build a grendel the Renegade is a better platform than the LPC, purely because the longer charging handle gives more purchase for extraction.
223, 224 Valkyrie and 300blk are all effortless to extract.

Not really a direct replacement for run'n'gun fun with an AR, but then since it doesn't have the semi bolt moving as it fires, it should be more accurate and I built with long barrel and bipod on that basis. Been very happy with it out to 300 yards so far.

The actual "Renegade" parts are the upper, lower and bolt. The rest is what ever you want it to be. The kit itself doesn't include the trigger. You probably bought a pre-made that had a cheap AR15 trigger already installed. Simply get a new one, like any other part you would in an actual AR15.

So I have one and I always would have a bunch of light strikes every time shooting it. I found even if I let the bolt go forwards it would sometimes "bounce slighlty" out of battery and when the trigger was pulled it would move the bolt forwards slightly. I found if I just pushed on the bolt handle every shot to make sure that the bolt was fully forwards (like a forward assist as mentioned) that seemed to solve the problem on mine. Runs great now.

Thanks for the suggestion… I’m hoping that I won’t always have rack it AND have to push the bolt forward to ensure it’s in battery as well.
