Slickest lever action?

A 99 in .250 Savage or .308 would really solve my chambering quandaries wouldn’t it. Oh the troubles brand loyalties bring. I’m a sucker for the looks of the classic John Browing designs too, yet to warm to the 99’s aesthetics.

I hear you Evan. I think the .25-20 takedown speaks to the boy still deep down inside headed to the creek at the farm.

The BLR is one of the only Lever Actions where one can keep the finger on the trigger during cycling the rounds without doing "finger stunts"...

It's a fast action, IMO
 
My Marlin 62 in .30 Carbine is the slickest and fastest lever gun hands down I have ever fired. Safety could use some help though.

I’ve learned something new, had never even heard of a Marlin 62, or a factory .30 Carbine lever for they matter, neat stuff.

I’ve yet to try anything slicker than this 1898 made ‘86, I just really need to find a good pistol gripped lever to try. Finding a pistol grip 1892 .25-20, 1886 .40-65 or .38-56, Model 65 or 71 has become the present treasure hunt. Especially a takedown of the first two.
 
The TV show Yellowstone got a lot of younger people interested in Lever Action's and I think in this modern world of high tech there is a part of all of us that yearns for simpler times and something different. Same with revolvers vs semi auto pistols.

I've always found the 86 smooth to operate and load, but its little brother usually seems to require some attention.

The little 92 is just so handy though.

Easy now, we're not discussing triggers here. :) When I had my favourite one in for a (minor warranty) repair, the gunsmith 'tuned' the trigger and it made it a very nice trigger indeed. Most of my BLRs have been okay trigger wise, but they can be improved. Caveat here, don't ever take one apart yourself.
 
I was merely commenting on the fact that the trigger will move with the lever on a BLR when cycling rounds.

So, I have not encountered a poked finger, stuck glove scenario in between trigger and lever.

This feature IMO adds to slick, fast operation. Hence, IMO the slickest lever action title belongs to the BLR !

But they're fugly.
 
My slickest and fastest are my 1873's, especially my miroku. My uberti feels as good but the springs are stronger and require a little more push

when I first heard of Jennings building .50 Alaskan's it peaked my interest and found 71's selling around $1200 was pretty common, I should have bit the hook then I guess

Ardent, given the purposes you've shown, is a take-down feature really high on the list?

Wild West Guns make a t/d but not in your choice of chamberings, have bought parts from them to improve an 1895, the Happy Trigger is nice
