Hello,

Does anybody sell in CANADA a 20 or 30 rounds magazines that is pinned at 10 rounds for AR 15.

I know QUESTAR sell a 10 rounds magazine for AR 15.

Thank you.

It must be marked as a 'pistol' mag. It can't be simply a pinned rifle mag. Stop trying to make sense from Canadian gun laws, and your head will be happier.

Yes i would have to agree, the more you think about the laws the more they irritate you to no end.

Just buy a few extra mags, you will be a pro at fast reloading drills in no time.:)

I think the answer you're hoping you won't get is this: Questar tried to get permission to import a 10/30 rd pistol magazine from the RRA LAR15 pistol, but the RCMP basically said no, there's no need for that when you already have 10/10 rd mags. Kind of hypocritical for them to say that when other pistols have pinned 10/15 etc. mags, but that's what they said.

We submitted a 30/10 design to RCMP as one of our first prototypes and it was rejected. It was only later, after several design submissions, that the 10 round magazine we now have was given RCMP classification approval.

I personally did not agree with the original decision on the 30/10 however, the cost to try to over-turn such a decision is simply prohibitive... and at the end of the day, as a shooter, the ability to have a 10 round magazine was more important than the "look" of the 10 round magazine that was finally approved.

Make a pistol that takes VZ mags!

What difference would that make? A VZ mag is still a rifle mag and therefore limited to 5 rounds. If the manufacturer of the handgun designed a 10/30 round mag specifically for use with that handgun it would certainly receive the same ruling from the RCMP that Questar got for the 10/30 LAR pistol magazines.

I was thinking someone should design a cover that looks like a 20 or 30 rounder that attaches to the 10 round mag. I don't care too much about the aesthetics but the 10's are a bit short and that extra bit of length makes it easier to insert and remove the mag.

I just ordered 2 with the "tactical handle" or whatever Questar is calling them..

Looks pretty slick, but not sure how they are going to fit into my existing pouches. May have to switch to M14's, but since I have one of those that's OK! :D

I agree and "extension" would be pretty handy to make them fit in existing pouches.

A small block of wood in the bottom of your mag pouch can bring the 10 rounders to a perfect level. ;)

If you have big hands you may want to loop a length of para cord under the wood insert with a drop of hot glue to hold it in place, this allows for easy removal.

why not just tape two rounders together lengthwise. I gotta get me some 10 rounders.

That's what I did with mine or my SP1. Looks pretty good, if I do says so myself, and I can change the mags super fast.

If you use black duct tape, as I did, you need to cut it to 1/2 width, otherwise the tape gets jammed into the magwell.

i know that. so WHY are they legal to use in a rifle? what happens when i put one in my M96 and get checked?

From CFC's Website...

"As set out in Criminal Code Regulations, the classification of a magazine depends on the type of firearm a magazine was designed to be used in, not the type of firearm it is actually used in... Most magazines designed for a handgun may legally hold up to 10 cartridges, even when used in a rifle."

I wonder if a sleeker solution might be to epoxy the two mags, I suspect it would look fairly seemless from a distance.
