One of those things that nobody other than other gun owners are going to question.yeah, its a debate than doesnt seems to go away but im satisfied with dlask's explanation when they sold us their 9" barrels.

Just want to bump this comment - If you're not familiar with how barrel length affects noise, the 9" will be A LOT louder than the 16".... if you want loud mag-dumps, then 9" is the only way to go!!
The only evidence that matters is a court ruling, and I wouldn't want to be the one to collect it....And I've been told repeatedly on CGN that changing the stock doesn't meet that bar. (Personally I'm not sure if it does or not, I haven't seen compelling evidence for either interpretation.)
you wouldnt say a 22 is loud in any barrel length if you ever fired a 7.62x39 thru a 7" . not only is it really really loud but also get a huge the fire ball, lol.Just want to bump this comment - If you're not familiar with how barrel length affects noise, the 9" will be A LOT louder than the 16".
Noise doesn't matter to everyone, of course. (and possibly matters to zero new gun owners for whom the GSG-16 is their first firearm!)
True; try it with a flash hider/compensator... louder yet.you wouldnt say a 22 is loud in any barrel length if you ever fired a 7.62x39 thru a 7" . not only is it really really loud but also get a huge the fire ball, lol.
I know exactly what you mean, I had a shorty vz58 back in the fun days. MAN that thing was obnoxious!you wouldnt say a 22 is loud in any barrel length if you ever fired a 7.62x39 thru a 7"...
Only precieved as louder. Because you're closer to the muzzle.I know exactly what you mean, I had a shorty vz58 back in the fun days. MAN that thing was obnoxious!
But noise is relative, of course. And a 9" 22LR is a heck of a lot louder than a 16" 22LR.
That's definitely part of it, but it should measure louder as well. The pressure at the muzzle should be quite a bit higher with the shorter barrel.Only precieved as louder. Because you're closer to the muzzle.
i did with a brake and i got a sun burn, lol. and everybody beside me moved away, haha.True; try it with a flash hider/compensator... louder yet.
That's like my 30 Herrett. That quiets everybody on the line. Then when I offer people to shoot it. They shoot it like a saw off. When only recoils like a 357 mag.i did with a brake and i got a sun burn, lol. and everybody beside me moved away, haha.
Wow, is it really that bad?
This will be my first gun, and I’d really like to avoid the frustration of dealing with constant jamming.
Guess I lucked out. That's pretty much all I've used and it has been 99% reliable.Mine only jammed with federal bulk.
Mine jammed couple times last week. With BX1 mags and recently cleaned. Nothing is 100% reliable when it comes to rimfire.Get a 10/22 and avoid the hassle of the jamming.
Mine was about 96% reliable with it. Enough to stick with just using cci with it.Guess I lucked out. That's pretty much all I've used and it has been 99% reliable.
That hasn't been my experience with the 10/22. My friends is anything but reliable. FTFeed is the most common issue with his, across multiple magazines.Get a 10/22 and avoid the hassle of the jamming.

Mine either actually. That hasn't been my experience with the 10/22. My friends is anything but reliable. FTFeed is the most common issue with his, across multiple magazines.
other than jamming what are the other benefits? i have no experience 10/22 and everytime i look at it, i get turned off by the rotary mag, lol. yeah, i know after market mags are no better looking.Get a 10/22 and avoid the hassle of the jamming.

Personally, I like the 10/22 rotary magazine mostly because it fits flush to the bottom of the receiver. And they've been reliable in every 10/22 I've had over the years, they're easy to disassemble and clean, and they seem surprisingly durable. I consider the 10/22 magazine by itself to be one of Bill Ruger's best inventions.other than jamming what are the other benefits? i have no experience 10/22 and everytime i look at it, i get turned off by the rotary mag, lol. ...
