We have had a long standing relationship with Mr. Mark Serbu and his company Serbu Firearms Inc. and consider he and his daughter to be friends of our shop.

Today I phoned and asked if we could borrow a product of his and to my delight he gave us his express consent. We are now allowed to manufacture a copy of his folding pump handle for the ever famous - Serbu Super Shorty.

I currently have a completed, original unit here that we will be copying and then piece by piece we will assemble, cut, fit and TIG them.

PLEASE DO NOT call, email, text or 'drop by' asking to get put on a list- there isn't one.

There are still many choices to make as in : do we use cheap Express models to keep the price down or do we start with Police models then make these the ultimate pimped out version with fancy bits or....it is all undecided as of this writing. Either way I am personally fairly eager to make myself one so....that most likely is a good thing ( :

A quick reminder of what a Super Shorty looks like :

The unfinished 11" above is a project I've been working on for a bit. These are for LE guys with a thicker barrel profile, knurling for more positive grip with gloves on and threading externally for a proper bar cutter breacher. Let me know what you guys think about it....

That is fantastic news! Now I regret selling my 8.5! what are the chances you will make a a drop in folding handle package that will work on a 80 tac 14? or will you only be selling them on completed firearms?

I'd like a cheap one with a butt, non restricted.

As long as you understand 'cheap' is a subjective term. The cheapest I can think to make these they will be in the $1,800 range. If we make a 'pimp' version with an 870 Police gun as the donor, they will be $2,500+ depending on the finish and butt stock / grip choice. There is a MASSIVE amount of time consuming custom fabrication in these.

These are *rough* pricing estimates only at this time. Since the base price of ALL Remington firearms has risen drastically as well as the base materials, overhead etc...the days of 'cheap' coming from our shop are long gone.

This is not an imported-from-Turkey / China gun meant for the masses. Too many other places sell those to make it worth our time. The are made in the USA guns that have been meticulously modified and fettered by craftsmen with over 60+ years of manufacturing experience in the trade. If this isn't something you are comfortable paying a premium for then we understand and thank you for looking.

Hoq do you shorten the mag tube? Do you de-braze the old one and install a brand new unit, or can the existing piece be shortened to spec? I remember they use some PITA acme thread, and there isn't a lot of meat on the tube as it is.

You are asking us to divulge a trade secret, not going to happen.

Let's just say it's black magic. We start with the tears of many pink haired childless cat ladies, some eye of newt and ear of toad....voila, a SUPER SHORTY !

As for what donor 870s to use, it seems like the supply of police 870s have increased greatly since Rem Arms got into full production again. And not sure what kind of price you'd be able to purchase them for but just checking around some police models retail close to the $850 mark and in some cases that's only $200-$100 more than one of their more "budget" friendly models so I would think using the Police models that already come with some improved internal components, drilled and tapped from the factory now and have a metal trigger group assembly would be the way to go..

But if you had to save a few bucks the new fieldmasters or Tac 14 models would be a decent alternative they atleast have drilled and tapped receivers direct from the factory now too, not that that's a necessity but it's nice to have the ability to install a rail on there without having to do any further modifications yourself.

I've always preferred 870s but too bad Remington didn't thread their mag tubes into the receiver like mossberg, would probably make these conversions slightly easier to produce
