Best powder for .308

I have 5 manuals Buy the Speer#15. Best print quality, best technical and historical notes and more realistic load data because they don’t own cartridges. Every beginner needs to read the first hundred pages of a reloading manual. I shoot a 43 year old .308 on an 18x24 plate freehand at 500M with $40 Speer HotCor bullets loaded according to the Speer manual. No internet connection or chronograph required.
Realoader 15, 748, Varget, IMR 4064, H and IMR 4895, IMR-8208, H4350 with 200’s are just a few that work.
Welcome to the rabbit hole.

For bulk FMJ I like CFE223 or BL-C(2). Target ammo gets 4064 or 3031 depending on the bullet. Varget is supposed to be great too but I never got into it. If I had reliable access to Ramshot or Alliant powders in the past I would probably be better off. It's better now but I haven't done much.

I use H4895 in everything I can.
I find it is pretty efficient in most of my loads and can be downloaded to crazy levels for fun plinking, new shooter's etc.
