Powder prices going up.

When I had a 338-06 built, it was with 47N in mind. "two grains faster than 4350" . I thought it was a Nobel powder made in Scotland . BTW, Big Game works great with 225gr.

I stopped just before Covid shortages, etc. Not because I don't like the prices or what's available but in all honesty, I just don't need any more propellants, primers, or bullets.

I likely won't be purchasing any more firearms for the same reason. If I want something new to play with, I'll just build it from the materials, bits, etc I have on hand.

We all reach a point where slowing down is no longer a matter of choice.

Higginson's is still a great place to purchase reloading materials

Just this afternoon, I loaded up 60 rounds of 338-06, using Higginson's 47N surplus powder (N160), which I've had for 25 years.
47N is a fantastic powder, I still have a 4 pound box:d

In the summer of 2021 a small sports shop was closing down and I bought 3 lb Retumbo and 2 lb RL25 for $25.99 per pound, plus 3,000 Rem 9 1/2 LRM primers for $19 / 1000 that was the last of the stuff they had unfortunately. I found more at another small shop about a month later $36/ lb and bought the last 4 they had, watching prices now I'm sure glad I did, if you can find retumbo now it's probably $100 by the time you get it to your door and primers well $250 - $400 / 1000 with no end in sight.

Just bought some retumbo last week. $85.50 / lb to my door.

There are still deals out there, you just have to look harder and further to get them. But yes, in general everything but wages are going up in life!

I'm on my last three pounds. I had three seven pound boxes deteriorate. Depends on which lot you received. They weren't numbered of course, but Tom brought in three different lots of that stuff.

It's extremely consistent even when it's very hot or very cold and it's very good with medium to heavy bullets for caliber, up to the 33 cal.

Two of the three lots were and are just fine. Those were the last two.

The lot that went bad on me was from his first shipment. It's my own fault it went bad, I should have used it up instead of saving it for a few specific rifles.

I purchased 70 pounds of it and Tom threw in another 35 pounds and shipped for free. I shared the wealth with several of my shooting buds at the time.

Only one of them didn't use it up over the 15 years we had it before it went bad. He misses it as well.

That stuff was unbelievably cheap, even back then. I don't believe we're going to see any more of those days in Canada again.

You ain't seen nuthin' yet.Alliant will no longer be selling powder to the public. Strictly military contract now.
That news was announced like 6 months ago.

Tesro has Viht powder at surprisingly low prices in the 8lb jugs. It makes Hodgdon powder look like a rip off.

Depending on how things go he may intensify it to an unprecedented level. Faith in politicians is insane.

All else being equal, I'd put my money on the guy who can talk with Putin; rather than the one who greenlighted long range missile strikes into Russia. A few short virtual "minutes" before he has to turn over the keys to boot!

Not a one of them is perfect, but the 4 years Mr. T's been in, things were pretty quiet and smooth.

Nothing related to any shooting sport is going to get cheaper, if you want to burn gun powder and shoot you are going to pay whether it's shotgun or rifle, if you have lived through times like this before as I have you would have prepared for rising costs however as time goes forward and we chew up our stock we are all going to have to pay more to resupply our supplies so to speak.

^ Yeah, the communists said #### like that last time he was in office.
If Putin doesn't play ball he will flood Ukraine with weapons and support. It's straight from his people if he hasn't said it himself yet. It's a typical Trump move too. I didn't comment otherwise, good or bad.

You have a source? Haven't seen it, and I gathered his approach would've been more hands off.

Being drug into a proxy war is still in war, and could very easily be escalated.

I assume it's not your flavor. It's the first thing that came up when I searched. I dont watch almost anything on youtube so my bad for not posting a far-right source or whatever. You can go get the the same info from whatever source you like.

It was all over at one point being touted as his plan. I didn't watch this but I will assume it can fill you in.

The male population has been decimated. Weapons are useless if there is no one left to carry them or fight in the trenches. They now have three options: lower the draft age from 25 to 18, make peace, or somehow convince NATO to join the fight. If they choose to lower the draft age, that decision should have been made a year ago, with the last 12 months spent training these recruits. Instead, they’re preparing to send untrained young men—kids—into the meat grinder, potentially ruining any chance of future repopulation. What could save these young lives is if the 'Slava Ukraini' online brigade commandos stepped up and took up the banner in Ukraine. But, let’s be honest, we all know that’s not going to happen
