Powder prices going up.

The male population has been decimated. Weapons are useless if there is no one left to carry them or fight in the trenches. They now have three options: lower the draft age from 25 to 18, make peace, or somehow convince NATO to join the fight. If they choose to lower the draft age, that decision should have been made a year ago, with the last 12 months spent training these recruits. Instead, they’re preparing to send untrained young men—kids—into the meat grinder, potentially ruining any chance of future repopulation. What could save these young lives is if the 'Slava Ukraini' online brigade commandos stepped up and took up the banner in Ukraine. But, let’s be honest, we all know that’s not going to happen.

Now, back to the topic of powder. I honestly can’t believe the price of powder keeps rising. Like many of you, yes, I have a stash, but it's insane how much I paid just a couple of years ago compared to what I’m paying now. It’s like we’re living in a bizarre world.

This commentary aligns with everything I've read about the war in Ukraine thus far. Things are very grim for Ukraine; it's a tragedy.
 
Russia has suffered enormous losses as well. The whole situation is another example of how little politicians care about their countrymen for starters and another example of how much devastation we are willing to wrought around the world to keep oligarchs on both sides of any conflict fat and healthy. They just need the right propaganda, emotional state or phrases and it's a done deal.

I have seen prices creep down online and in big box but my local retailers are driving the gouge train.
I know they pay more because they deal with less volume but the increased costs with shipping powder over the past few years have allowed local shops to keep their prices cranked.

I'm certainly glad I'm not one of the guys shooting 300WM or 7mmRUM but it still hurts.

Impending price increase alerts have also been demonstrated to be a good way to clear out inventory. Just sayin.....

I bought a few lb from a local place recently, paid less than $50/lb.

The bigger issue I am having as of late is finding what I want in stock - I really don't want to have to change powders for my hunting load, but I haven't seen Reloder17 in a long ass time and I'm starting to run low...
 
prices are high enough i have paid 50 a lb but that is all i pay . a local dealer has a lot higher prices than that.

The problem is when the ma and pa shops bought that powder at inflated pricing, say the last year or so, they are still using the same % mark up.

Many small shops have cheaper powder because it is either older stock, that they bought for less so can still sell for less, or bought just recently and have an in between price point. They don't re price all their stock to current prices, but price off their buying price at a % point. Simple business practice model here.

Our local Can tire has IMR 4227 sitting at $98 a pound, because they bought a bunch when the price was high, and now they are sitting on a bunch of it because no one wants to pay that price. Can get same stuff $68/ pound elsewhere.

Many of the powders are made and packaged for sale and distributed right here in Canada.

Shipping costs, component costs, manufacturing costs, have all increased exponentially over the past 4 years.

It's going to get worse, when we have to compete with equipment to produce the powders availability when we're competing against government demands.
